Is it true that in order to have a legal Pre-Ban Ar 15 in ct .. First it Can't be a Colt AR 15/ Sporter except a Match Target.. Pre ban lowers can be assembled with basiclly any upper as long as it is over 16" total that would include a perm. attached muzzel brake...

Do legal non colt pre ban lowers have to leave the factory as complete rilfes?  Since there were many non colt lowers for sale in years past... I sure more than one left the factory as just lower receiver for builds?? Confusing because really the receiver is the gun.. and if its pre ban and not on the list it should be ok... I'm sure there is more to it than that..

Match Targets are postban.
Preban receivers just had to be made pre-94, not necessarily into a complete rifle. [read the law]
You can have a shorter barrel, you just have to register it as a a short abrrel rifle.

Just to clarify this before someone make an illegal gun. Not that it is wrong, just that it could be misinterpreted.

Just because you have the SBR stamp, does not mean it is a pre-ban. If you want an SBR with all the goodies the receiver must be a pre-ban.

True. There are actually other flaws with that logic. Ie. A Colt is not legal regardless of date of manufacturer.

Just having a bit of fun!

To make things more complicated you CAN buy a Colt AR15 or SP1 as long as it was converted to a machine gun prior to '86 or has a RDIAS in it.

The RDIAS can also be installed in any post ban gun and allow you to put on preban features with any barrel length.
