Anyone here familiar with the rules or laws (if there are any) when trying to build or use a private range?  I'm not referring to local ordinances but environmental regs and such.  I'm getting increasingly frustrated with not having a halfway decent place to shoot.  All I really want is 100 yards with a berm that is available whenever I want it.

Considering trying to purchase a few acres somewhere to use.

As for shooting on your own property, I'm not aware of any restrictions other than perhaps not shooting towards populated areas. I live in a rural area, and we've shot lots of high-powered rifles and even an M16 in my back yard. I've never gave any consideration to the environmental aspect of lead build-up.

I feel your pain. I am also considering buying some land.

I used to have unlimited access to some land in Spencer, IN. But some of the other users decided that offseason shooting would hurt their hunting grounds. So I said screw it, hell I did most of the maintenance and upkeep to the place.
