I ordered a DD Omega X 12 FSP, from a local shop on 2/21.  Called today to check if it was in, shop told me that they had called on Thurs. or Fri. and this is what they were told,  "The rail is in stock but they can't ship because they don't have any boxes"!   They should have boxes this week.  I understand that shit happens from time to time, but you would think that they could have come up with something better than that.

i ordered a shitload of stuff from DD last week and didn't have a problem.  don't know if my being a dealer makes a difference or not...

I've seen similar things happen. Poor communication for inventory and next thing you know, they're out. Not saying I agree with the excuse though, there are plenty of ways around not having the "right" box for the product. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long.

The "SHOP" (asked not to be  named) just became a dealer this year.  Like I posted above I understand things happen, but when I heard the excuse I was speechless.  I'm not trying to knock DD, I've heard good things about their products.  Somebody may want to talk to the Shipping Dept..

i ordered more DD product this morning and specifically asked the sales guy i had about that.  he said it was total bullshit.  ...never happened.

two hours later i'm in the dealer who told you this and it comes up.  i didn't know it was they who'd had this issue, so i get on my speaker phone call in and ask again.  different sales guy says the part is on backorder.  i asked why.  he didn't directly answer but said it'd be off backorder quickly to ship.  so i asked directly about there being a shortage of boxes.  he then admitted that was in fact a problem a week ago, but not currently.

upon further conversation he mentioned it was the packaging box that was backordered for that particular model, not the shipping boxes.  so it was an issue from a premade and inked packaging scenario, not the inability to physically ship product.

hell of a note.

you're local dealer is GTG.  they didn't fib you.

They didn't have boxes??  Isn't that like the grocery stores not having any bags for you to take your groceries home in??

if you read the replies in the thread, you would of learned its more like a grocery store not having boxes to put your Coco Puffs in... wasnt shipping boxes, it was product boxes that were out, witch wasnt even the real issue.

This is totally off topic on my part and I apologize for that but, there are grocery stores that do not provide bags/boxes to carry things home.

An update:  Called the SHOP again today to see when my rail will arrive, now its out of stock. WTH!  DD's website shows it is in stock, their customer service people say its not in stock.  So to summarize 1. No product packaging. 2. Now no product to ship.  I had always heard good things about DD, now with personal experience this maybe my only purchase from them.

Websites and inventory systems don't always talk to one another.  They should but in smaller businesses it's not unusual for computer systems to be a lower priority.  Fully integrated website/inventory/customer service software can be surprisingly complex and expensive.

yeah, it is...  you're working with a great dealer, so no worries.  you just happened to order a high volume part i reckon.  DD is known for that particular part as they are some of the best out there available for that style of quad rail.

no worries, it'll be worth the wait.  i had to break your balls a little though...  ;)  thanks for being a good sport.
