| Has anyone ever attended this? Looks like it could be interesting. Also, kind of related, does anyone know a good place to find a cheap .22 upper for an AR? Wouldn't want to burn through about 500 rounds of .223 for this... |

I have attended it and its the best rifle instruction that you can get for $80.
The history is a little heavy handed at times, but its important to know it and know WHY we learn to shoot and what to do before it comes down to a shooting fight. For the money, you're better off buying a Ruger 10/22 or Marlin 795 with TechSights instead of an AR .22 conversion. The cost is about the same and you get a .22 rifle that is better suited for the instruction that Appleseed does. Search for "Liberty Training Rifle" for some more info. |

Great training and well worth the cost of admission. |

Everyone's shooting instruction should begin with appleseed. I do not recommend a conversion unit for an AR15 barreled in .223/5.56, they are not quite consistently accurate enough with the 1/7 and 1/9 twist rates I have tried them with. A .22lr barreled upper might be a different story.
Right now 500 rounds of .223 is more available than 500 rounds of .22lr!! If and when you go, just remember that these instructors are donating their time to this program often getting up at the asscrack of dawn and driving long distances to give instruction and history lessons for little more than recuperating what they spent on gas and the satisfaction of knowing that they did a little something to help people realize what is the greatest thing the founding fathers left us with. |
