Not as bad as you'd think.

I can have the front half of a Twin Turbo equipped 2jz supra imported from japan for under $3k.  That's the motor and transmission.

The shortblock can safely handle over 800 hp as is. 2jz s are odd little motors. The best example I've seen so far made over 1300 hp, and in all reality, they are pretty detuned.

A retune and an exhaust will give you a 400/400 power combo.

I"m doing a Bigger single turbo, (probably about 14-17psi boost) boost controller, stand alone fuel management system, new cams, new intake, bigger intercooler, and exhaust, I fully expect to actually have 500 HP on the ground. With the laughing gas, I expect another 100 on the ground. The lightweight flywheel and clutch will help it spool faster since it'll only have one turbo.

By the time the gutting of the car is done, it'll be around 2700 lbs, which is 600 lbs lighter than it is now, and a good 500 lbs lighter than the car I'm taking the motor out of.

I don't know of a single car on the streets in little rock right now that will touch it.  I haven't seen a ricer over 340 hp, and few American cars I've seen that are really tuned typically are a lot heavier, and top out around 400-500 hp. I know of one Camaro RS that has near 700 but I haven't seen him in about 3 years.

There was a red Firebird that was an absolute monster.  The owner worked at the Gas station across from the Loony Bin.  I heard about 2 years ago the car burned to the ground.

So unless someone has a Lingenfelter Vette, Hennessy Viper, or very high end Roush Mustang, nothing in central arkansas will touch it.

Good luck with it. I did the go-fast car and bike thing a few years back but realized they all, no matter how nice (all original, #'s matching muscle cars excluded) are  depreciating assets and there is always someone a little bit faster.

Guns and ammo on the otherhand.......

I don't wanna beat everyone, I just wanna beat the ricer punk asses, and viper and vette owners. I've always had a fast car. It's in my DNA

I am sure it'll be quick. I have to admit I am intrigued by the Mitsubshi Evos. They are really tweaking them big time and the all wheel drive helps hooking up. I can appreciate the speed but for me I cant justify the expense.

Oh, did some poking around. The Jspec supra with the motor I'm building up is a 180 mph car.

Jspec Supra's only have 292 hp.

It's a 13.1 at 109 1/4 mile car.

Jspec Supra's only have 315 foot lbs of Torque.

Meaning they put roughly 260 hp and 285 ft lbs of torque to the ground.

They weigh 3218 lbs dry.

My firebird currently weighs 3310, and when I'm done will be closer to 2700, and be making about 2 times the power.

It should easily be a ten second car.

tell me about it....I have a project in the back of the shop at dad's right now that is sick...2...not one but 2 SM465 granny 4 speeds, an np-205, AND a 4 speed atlas transfer case with 10:1 final....with both trannys and both transfers in low and coupled to locked toploader rockwells with 6.72:1 gears.....gives me roughly 6123.6:1....MMMWWAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
powerplant will be a Cummins 4-bt, or 4-53 detroit host vehicle is slated to be an '88 chevy astro van.....don't ask...I just have this thing about the little van and the addition of the rockwells with most likely 38-40 inch tires, well it will be different...and that's what I am all about...lol

dude......what that combo you oughtn't be running tires any smaller than 47"........hell, do yerself a favor and eliminate one of them 465s!

[#11]
I knew that was comin' lol.. I have a set 53" michelin military transporter tires and wheels, but they need adapters for the rims...something else to make....lol.
I have to have both 465s that was the design...I have thought about dropping the np205(only cause it makes it easier to mount) but I want the ability to go super deep, or just deep.....or leave the transfers in high, and the aft 465 in 4th and just drive it on the street( for shits and grins) lol just something I have wanted to do.....
In all actuality, I would be better off to buy a diesel Unimog (farm version of course) with the 20 + forward gears and then transfer with low range.....I like 'em, no, I love em. I just don't fit in them well....they don't feel right when I am in them.

on the actual original topic, I think you have some fun in the making there Dusty....the little 'yotas are tough lil bastges and they can take a fairly harsh pounding...besides, it is always fun to put something evil or special under a hood it doesn't belong under....kind of FrankenFreaky...lol I have made goofy crossovers before too... like the Yamaha FJ1200 engine in the banshee frame....stooopid....that one nearly killed me...lol
or the upcoming astro van with diesel power...I like the little 4-bt cummins....but I sure does luvs me some old detroit wif da turbos added...sounds purely evil

this is a vid a little 8v53 with big injectors...fareekin wild.....and yes evil sounding

very cool, keep us posted on the progress.

while you are at it, could you throw one of those engines into a second gen RX7 for me?
