If anyone in the Norfolk/Chesapeake/Virginia Beach area needs an FFL or AR parts I recommend The Armory on Indian River Road in Kempsville. They have done about 6 transfers for me lately and only charge $15 per! I just email them with the information and they email me back when my transfer arrives. It’s awesome and they are always very helpful. They carry Olympic Arms and I picked up a stripped lower a couple Saturdays ago for a future project. Anyway, they always treat me right and I wanted to pass it on to others in this area. **The author of this post is in no way affiliated with The Armory or any of it’s employees** |
When I was there on Wednesday Dave told me they just got .223 ammo in, $165 for a case. I can't recall what kind.
I'll send you pictures Are you going on deployment? One of the guys on my hockey team is a H46 mechanic and he leaves tomorrow |

Howdy, I just moved to the Tidewater area from Charlottesville (start the new job tomorrow). I have already made my first purchase at The Armory. I bought a Oly Arms PCR-16 flat-top. I thought the service was great, and so was the selection. Much better than any gun shop anywhere near Charlottesville. I'm taking the Oly out to the indoor range in VA Beach this afternoon to give it a try. Can anyone reccomend a good outdoor range that is not too expensive in the Tidewater area? I'm still a member of my range in Charlottesville, but I'd rather not make a 2 1/2 hour drive every time I want to shoot farther than 25 yards. Its too bad that VA Beach has those annoying local handgun purchase permits, that is going to be annoying once I decide to start buying handguns again. |

Landric, Which indoor range did you go to? I belong to the Lynnhaven range so if you head over there give me a yell. There are two outdoor ranges in Va Bch. A private one in Pungo that is in serious trouble of being taken away and one in Muden Point (almost to NC). When the weather breaks I'd love to take a couple of the Ar's down to Muden Point for an afternoon. Keep my email ([email protected]) handy and let me know when you get the itch to go shoot. Marc |
If you'd like to get around that purchase permit crap you can go to Bobs in Norfolk, pick out the handgun you want, then go to Carrolton sportsmans shop and do the transfer. No permit required since its in Carrolton. Saves a few bucks. |

Howdy, I went to Bob's for the first time today after work. I'm going to the range tomorrow to qualify with a couple of off-duty weapons, and I needed some .45ACP ammo. Bob's is the closest gun shop to my work, and I didn't feel like trying to drive to the gun shops I know in VA Beach at 3:00pm and then be stuck fighting traffic on the way back to Norfolk. I was very impressed with the selection and the people there were very friendly. I was not impressed with the prices, which in some cases were $100 more for some various handguns than either The Armory or A&P Arms in Virginia Beach. I understand that Bob's offers a year membership to the range with a purchase, but since I already have three current range memberships (one in VA Beach, one in Central VA, and one in Dare County, NC), I really don't need another range membership, especially another indoor range membership. I would consider purchasing a firearm from Bob's, as I said there was a great selection and the people were very friendly, but only if I could not find it somewhere else first. The people at The Armory and A&P Arms were just as friendly, and the selection at both places was almost as good. They are slightly farther away from me, but not $100 farther away, and the VA Beach purchase permit, while a hassle, is only $10 and takes about 15 minutes to get. Landric |

The Carrolton Sportsman's Shop has good prices compared to other stores. As previously mentioned, there is no purchase permit. Neither Newport News, Hampton, nor York County have the permit requirement either. I haven't been to the Armory in 5 years or so. What kind of AR accessories do they have? |
