Oklahoma Statutes Citationized Title 21. Crimes and Punishments Chapter 53 - Manufacture, Sale, and Wearing of Weapons Section 1272 - Unlawful Carry A. It shall be unlawful for any person to carry upon or about his or her person, or in a purse or other container belonging to the person, any pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle whether loaded or unloaded or any dagger, bowie knife, dirk knife, switchblade knife, spring-type knife, sword cane, knife having a blade which opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring, or other device in the handle of the knife, blackjack, loaded cane, billy, hand chain, metal knuckles, or any other offensive weapon, whether such weapon be concealed or unconcealed, except this section shall not prohibit: 1. Thanks for the above post!
This is amusing. I called my county sheriff’s office to ask about blade length and fixed blades as I do not see these addressed in the above post. I’m told that 3” is the blade length limit, and it must be a folder unless hunting or sporting. I am told that it can be concealed but that this is not the most recent information and that the law might have changed and that I should call the OSBI. I call the OSBI and no answer so I try back a few hours later. I am told to call the police. “The city police?” I ask. I am told yes. At this point I wouldn’t expect the city police to know and am kind of disappointed that it is such a vague subject. If anyone who is perhaps in law enforcement or practicing law has any info I would appreciate it. |

It looks pretty dumb I can carry a revolver in my pocket all year long but can't carry knife with a blade longer than my thumb.
I bought a Spyderco Endura at the Tulsa Gun Show to carry. The last one I had I lost at a Texas Ranger's ball game in the mid 90s. The Endura is probably illegal anywhere I carry it. Hell, you can't even carry a box razor in your back pocket if you are opening packages for a living. I just don't worry about it if I need a knife. I carry what I want if I need one. |
| Over spring break I was out hiking and had a 7" blade straped to my side. I went into a gas station for some stuff and forgot to take it off. You should have seen the look I got from the two county sheriffs that were buying a pop. I guess they figured it was better left alone because they did not say a word. Now in OKC, I would have been ticketed or arrested. |
Laws notwithstanding, I always carry with me whatever tool I think I may require to get me through the day. I don't ask permission simply because it's nobody's business but mine, and I don't expect to get permission in the first place. They do have laws I'm sure, but I also have my rules. Rule 1; I will always be armed. Rule 2.; if you violate rule one, you have forfeited your life, payable either today, or whenever they let me out of prison. Rule 3; Never underestimate the ability of a crotchety old man to be a total asshole despite your own assumptions on what he should be. The bottom line, if you are going to carry a knife or a gun, go ahead and carry it. Just expect that some day you might have to use it to satisfy a difference of opinions on the matter.

You know I thought about this some.
How about a stealth weapon? Like putting on a sheath on your belt that will hold a 22 oz framing hammer? You can always claim you are a roofer - that about covers everything. And if you get pissed off, you can beat someone to the ground and probably not kill them. If they walk with a shuffle and stutter when they talk after you're done, you've worked your frustrations out and they won't be bothering you again. That sounds like one hell of a good idea. |

Good grief...Is what our conversations have come to? How about a spiked cod piece so you can just run up and ram someone from behind causing them to bleed rectally until death or loss of conscientiousness?? You've GOT TO QUIT hanging out with Rat!!!!!!!!!!!!
