I went to class back in 2008 for my Utah CCW and also took the Florida and shot. I applied for Utah and never got Florida due to limited reciprocity (compared to Utah) and cost. I will be headed to Florida at the end of July and now am wishing I had the license. If I want it I would imagine I would need to repeat the class due to quite a bit of time passing since I took the class? If I squeaked it in within a short window what are the chances I could get my Florida license before my late July trip? Thanks in advance

| Its not the training that will be your hurdle. I sent in a certificate of some training from the late '90s when I applied for FL last year with no problem. The problem for your situation is I believe Florida's turn around time on new applications is 90+ days. Maybe look into if they have a rush option? |

No expiration date on training courses that I'm aware of. Also, Florida does not require a course specializing in CCW or defensive gun use; a hunter's ed cert from IL-DNR will suffice, as will evidence of participation in a shooting competition. (I sent a copy of my DNR hunter's ed and a copy of my NRA Highpower classification card). And yeah, it takes a while. mine took 2.5 months to process and get to me. Only rush option is if you do it in person at one of Florida's sheriff's offices- hear that reduces wait time to just a bit over a month.
