I made it down to Millers on memorial day and they handed me a piece of paper about becoming a member for $35 a year. That doesn't seem bad, but it said the hours are 5-10. Is that 5 am to 10 pm or 5 pm to 10 pm or what? I am confused, but I need to do some shooting this weekend and I am trying to decide if the money is better spent at Millers or Spring Valley. Anybody know what the hours really are at Millers? Thank you, Dan |

I can't imagine what that means. Helpful ain't I? I've never really worry about it as I've got the year membership and just figure that its daylight hours for shooting and I probably wouldn't start till the sun had been up for a while... Earliest I've shot is maybe 10:30. Just be respectful and your probably good to go. Heck usually only takes someone shooting to get Tim to show up. |

To save any confusion, I did not have any ideas about going down there at 5:00 in the morning, I just did not want to show up at 1:00 in the afternoon and then be told I have to wait until 17:00 and come back. We onced camped at a place in Nelsonville that had a rifle range across the way belonging to the coon hunters club. Yes, they did shoot all night long, but it was 'so often you hardley even noticed it..." Dan |

Dont worry about those hours. Keep it between around 9am to 8pm and you'll be fine. If not Tim will let you know if your doing something wrong. Howster, it sucks you came all that way and no one was there. If you go again just pick a vacant lot and someone will be there eventually. Millers is not a very organized place sometimes but the atmosphere is very laid back. |
Pretty much anytime during the day and you're good to go. With my work schedule, afternoon's are when I usually can go. The membership is well worth it: non-paper targets, full auto allowed, no one shot every X seconds, screaming "wolverine's!!" after bump firing From what I've heard, you can't have all that fun at Spring Valley.
Also found out this past Sunday Tim has a box at the office to drop of your money if you're only paying for the day and you don't find anyone. |
+1 In my opinion that is the beauty of Millers, common sense & responsibility prevail! It's refreshing to shoot on a range & not be treated as if you don't know which end of the weapon the bullet comes out of! Of course that's just my opinion, and I've been told that I've been exposed to too much lead and powder fumes !![]()

I'd go with Miller's if I were you. The freedom s great and Tim is friendly and easy going. The only, and I mean only downside I can think of (and it's a very minor one and never affected me) is that if you were to show up wanting to do some longer range shooting, and someone was already there shooting close range, you'd have to let them finish or just join the existing firing line. Seems that most people shoot from the shelter, which is about 30, maybe 35 yards (?) from the berm. I've been there at various hours (from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm during the week), and it's usually unoccupied when I'm there during the daytime. Saturday and Sunday, a few guys always show up, and everybody gets along and cooperates with each other. Another benefit is that if you have a 4 wheel drive, in the wintertime, you can make a small fortune pulling Johnny McEldoo and Colt Sniper out of the mud and snow when they are trying to get to and from the berm...... ![]() |

Forgot to add: Yes, --what JME said-- about the hours there, and --what Hessian said-- about the overall atmosphere . I was there today at noon to around 3:00. Tim was out mowing the field. He stopped for a while to come over and say howdy, and chit chat a bit. As I was packing up, a few guys pulled up and unloaded a couple of televisions to shoot up. All he asked was that they keep them close to the berm as possible so as not to mess up the field. He watched them shoot 'em up for a few minutes, chuckled, told them to "stay careful with those guns", then went back to his mowing. |

I can't believe no one has mentioned the very cool ancillary benefits of Millers. 1. Driving through the circa 1976 campgrounds is always good for entertainment. Roll down your window, you'll smell weed, you'll hear someone arguing, and you'll be growled at by a feral dog. 2. During the hot months, the algae on the pond permits you to do Jesus-like walking on water displays for the camping folk. 3. There is a petting zoo right next to the clubhouse, and you can (as TZ99 found out) feed the goats portions of your car. These things, my friend, are reason enough to call Millers the #1 coolest gun range in the Buckeye State. That, and there's a chance you'll run into me, which is also something to be excited about. |
Well, I was gonna mention all that, but I anticipated and hoped you'd be along with a much more eloquent description of it than I could provide. On a side note, I wonder how deep that pond is...... I might try that someday ("Hey ya'll...watch THIS"....) |
give us a head's up and we'll meet you there. here's the webpage with address...www.millercampground.com/ |
Hmm, how tall is the berm? I know a few places I've shot only had one berm but it was tall enough that you could place your targets anywhere betwen the shooting line and berm. This let people shoot both short and long distances without having to move the actual shooting line. |
The berm is maybe 50 yds long, if your lucky it's 20 ft high. |
i want a membership from tim. does he get on here?the find a spot deal does not play with me solo. if other ar members are there thats cool but not solo. i was there and called craig about info.. i want a card or something. paper? something. i brought ammo out the ass and rifles to fire only to end up shooting at ceasers creek range, wtf. and a god damn 35ft rv at millers!!!! yes im upset a little but you bring a 35ft rv o millers and dnt shoot. tell me your cool, wtf. could i have a drop box or something for millers?i would pay for it.

+1!! Ive gone several times and never found anyone. I picked up the waiver in the mailbox and sent a check for a yearly membership and a note asking about range rules and such. He cashed the check but I havent gotten a relpy about rules or anything. Can someone fill me in on rules? is there a card or anything that yearly members get? thanks in advance |
![]() Courtesy of earth.google.com/ Cool program...... So, when ya headin' out to Miller's? I thought about tomorrow maybe. |
Sorry we missed you. Today, Glimmerman and I had a nice, relaxing few hours of shootin' at the berm, swapping stories, and enjoying the weather. I appreciate that he didn't snicker too much over my reaction when I pulled the trigger on a .40 pistol with no "ears" on........ Was a nice afternoon. We were both mildly surprised that no one else was there. |
+1 Didn't seem like three hours, but it was. |
JEC thats a perfect pic. I've been out there and had a great time. I missed the goats though. Just go shoot and when tim comes out pay him. ( there was some one in the trailer at the front when I was there) (the second to the last beer drinker was me on that pic)

From what I've heard, you can't have all that fun at Spring Valley.
