...about minimum caliber for rifles.

When I took the Hunter Safety Course years ago, I'm nearly positive that the minimum caliber to hunt big game (deer/pig) was .24 - is that still true? Looking through the handbook I see no references to minimum rilfe caliber, only for handgun caliber. I tried a search on the DFG website, but to no avail. Does anyone happen to know the law/code specifying rifle calibers, if there is one?

edit: misspelled deer (dear): damn you freud

No minumum caliber requirements. Only that it must be a centerfire cartridge for big game animals and it can not be a fmj bullet. Expanding tip or soft point ammo

Be careful of the Condor zone as well.  No lead ammo allowed.

This is a common rumour that fudds love, just like hunter orange is required and magazines must not hold more than five rounds.

Use the right ammo for the animal. .223 coyote .30-06/.308/.270 for buck  just examples. Center fire for big game but don't try to shoot an elk with a .223.
