I'm applying for a lot of new jobs at the moment, I see some ask about past "moving" violations, and I'm guessing they mean tickets.  My question is, what is the definition of a moving violation?  The only thing I've had in the last 5 years is expired tags and I paid it and updated my tags.  Will this be on my record as a moving violation?

thanks.

Moving violations= speeding, ran red light, etc

Expired registration is not considered a moving violation and I'm pretty darn sure it doesn't go on your record because in 9 years I've never seen an expired registration offense on a DL record.

thank you.

I know this sounds stupid, but is there any way for me to check my driving record?  I can't remember when my last ticket was but I believe it was about 5 years ago.  I could be wrong though, and at the moment forgetting something since then.

Wow, I had no idea TxDPS had this info online.  I'm a bit disturbed, however, that I find myself with mixed emotions that I must pay to get my own records.  Considering my state/local sales taxes help pay for the web-presence of this data, and considering that I have to provide such detailed information, I would want the ability to check the accuracy of this information free of charge.
However, knowing very well the vulnerabilities of public-access databases and the ease of SQL/MySQL/Oracle DB authentication bypass (give me a few weeks and I'd focus on it), I would hope this is something of a safeguard against intrusion.  Knowing government agencies, my initial impression is that the release of the data is more for a profit-making purpose than to safeguard private information.  Wouldn't be the first gov't agency I've had to correct on safe-computing issues...

Thanks for the link, I certainly think this requires further examination.

Call your insurance company. They have your MVR on file, trust me. And it's free.
