| Had a question for everyone. Do you think it is better to buy a already built upper or use a kit with a striped lower? Or do you think it is better to pick and chosse every peace? I alreday have a 6 pos stock, grip, knights RAS rails, and a TA31F ACOG. I want to keep it like the M4 I use when I'm working. You know 14.5 inch barrell flat top and all mil spec. Can you give me some ideas? Thanks Nate |

It simply depends on what you want, your willingness to build one, and departmental regulations if used in the line of duty.... etc... Given the parts you have - I would focus on building one. You can order a milspec 14.5" barrel easy enough, and an upper receiver, etc... and snap it all together. |
| I'm pretty sure anything under 16'' is considered a sbr so watch yourself in regards to that... Anywho i built myself an m4ergry using a bushy flattop upper with a cmt enhanced bcg i bought a complete lower but you already got most of that stuff it sounds like.... |

Well... as long as total barrel length including any permanently attached muzzle device is at or over 16 inches, you're good to go. Thus, a 14.5 with a slightly extended M4 design muzzle device (permanently attached) is just as legal as any other 16+ barrel length. And these are readily available. For all practical purposes... when firing or in carry, I don't see much difference between my 14.5s and 16s. As to build it yourself or buy an already built upper... that depends on your mechanical abilities and your preferences in what features you want in an upper. If you want something "special" then build it yourself or have it built. If you want a "standard" design, then buy it off the shelf. There is very little price difference. |
