| I moved into the state with an AK that has evil 30rd mags. Confirm to me that if I sell this rifle in MD it has to go trhough a dealer or MSP barracks and that I cannot sell the mags with the gun. |

Correct. You cannot transfer any magazine over 20 rounds (20 or less is okay) within the state (or mail order it for that matter.) The option is to send the magazines to an address out of state and have the buyer pick them up out of state. And yes, you cannot sell an AK face to face. It is regulated. It requires a waiting period and a background check on the buyer. You can do this at a Maryland State Police barracks for $10. You both have to go and bring the weapon unloaded in the car (don't bring it into the barracks.) Once the paperwork comes back to the seller saying the buyer is good, you fill out the rest of the paperwork and drop it off and you can transfer it to the buyer. This is called a "Secondary Sale." Of course, you could go through a dealer and possibly pay more, but they would do all of the paperwork for you. |

I am toying with the idea of selling it. I bought it on a whim, and have never shot it despite the fact the ammo is currently cheap as hell. Its one of the Special Edition AK-74s bought through ARFCOM a couple years ago. True safe queen...never even chambered a round. I don't really need the money, so I will probably lube it up with oil and have it stored in my father-in-law's safe. |
