I am looking at a position with an employer in northern WA. Wondering about the cost of living in towns around Everett. CHL classes, SBR ownership, and places where NOT to look are helpful as well. Thanks |
Well for one thing you must live there............. |
Everett... Home of the mullet, white trash, and some very disgusting streetwalkers. |
You obviously have Everett confused with Lynnwood.......or Granite Falls. |
For 43 years. |
No, Lynnwood forgot the mullets, and Granite Falls forgot the streetwalkers. GF has the Spar Tree, it doesn't need streetwalkers.
|
I work for the 9-1-1 center for this area... Mukilteo is fine, but your going to pay... Everett sux ass, and for the most part it gheto, move out to the country area, granite falls, arlington, snohomish, monroe...ect... I would stay out of Everett, marysville, lynnwood... But that is just me. |
| Edmonds is pretty nice if you like Asians and old people. You benefit from a counter-commute as well in the morning and afternoon. If you live north of Everett and have to take I-5 south in the morning and north in the afternoon, you just wasted an extra hour each way every day. |
THANKS SOOOO MUCH That's what I needed to know.... Information that any police department would be too afraid to give out...
|
Yeah, depending on what time you have to get to work, the trip from Arlington could be anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour and a half. The benefit is a much lower housing cost, more space, less people, and being close to Sylvana Meats. |
Sorry, it's closed. |
No idea about Mill Creek or Arlington. But in GF we have a new high school opening in Jan, the current high school will become a jr. high with the current jr. high turning into our third elementary school. My youngest has gone to a GF school her whole life and she's okay so far. Just ask some LCR attendees. |

Meth City USA: Granite Falls www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/846737/posts I suggest that you ask someone to tape/dvd record the old King5 TV show "Almost Live". While it is about 15 years out of date 80% of the material (politics, local flavor, employment) are relevent to the Puken Sound area. |
The last time I drove through GF, you could go from one end to the other in about 1 minute at 25MPH. I've heard they have expanded a bit since the last time I've been there, so I'll go out on a limb and say you could now drive through it in about a minute and thirty seconds. There aren't really any "areas" like large cities. |
Hey......so?
|
It's a mixture of old and new houses. Depending on where on Cascade you are talking about there is a park with a skate park, playground equip and basketball courts. (Large hangout for teens. I live right on the edge of downtown. GF is still small but it's growing. Here is what we have. 1 grocery store (Red Apple) 1 Pharmacy (Pharm a Save) a Rite Aid is being built. 1 video rental place 2 bars (Timberline & Eagles) 2 mexican restaurants 2 Family type burger joints 2 pizza restaurants 1 McDonald's 2 Teriaki restaurants 3 gas stations 4 latte stands 1 laundry mat 2 real estate companies 1 dentist 2 doctors 1 State booze store 2 hardware stores (Ace sells guns and ammo at stupid high prices) A bunch of little mom and pop shops offering trinkets to haircuts Police force is pretty small. 10 guys (I think) Usually 2 on duty at all times. Plus State Patrol and County Sheriffs have a large presence in town. Fire Dept is mostly volunteer. |

Avoid Casino Road. Avoid living north or east of the plant unless you like sitting in traffic that *should* be moving but isn't. The good news is that you will also get plenty of exercise walking to/from your car just before/after this lovely traffic since you will have to park about a mile from the building you work in. Actually, do yourself a favor and just stay in Oregon. |
| Well, I think GF is where I will look first for a place if I get up there for an interview. Tweakers are everywhere and they are hard to get away from. Myself and my wife are well armed enough to repel an invasion of zombies, and at any rate, tweakers are good people. They let go of their cars and guns for practically nothing!!! |
Hmmm, let's see... Georgetown to the North Rainier Valley/Skyway to the East Tukwilla/Renton to the South South Park/Little Somoa to the West Personally, I'd say crappy would be an understatement. I would plan on a LONG commute. |
Renton is getting much better. There are some areas here and there that aren't too nice, but most of it is pretty good. Mike |
+1 I live just outside Tacoma in University Place. It's a really good neighborhood about 10 minutes from Tacoma. House prices aren't too crazy (yet) and You can take the train from tacoma to Tukwilla with relative ease. |
The farther away from Seattle you can get, the cheaper it will be. |
