I recently secured two short barrels for my rifles and want to convert them to a SBR.
If I understand the process, I'll need to submit a form 1, since I'll be the builder. This is where I need help. Does anyone know who the Chief Law Enforcement Officer is in Hillborough county? Is this something I can just show up & say I need my forms signed or do I need an appointment? The form looks straight forward to complete. If there's an area most people screw up, please mention. My only other concern is the engraving. I would prefer not to engrave the receiver. Can I engrave the barrel instead? Any other pointers you find helpful appreciated. Is family trust the way to go? |

I used Quiken Willmaker to set up a NFA trust for me and the mrs. Quick, easy and cheap. The receiver has to be engraved................ end of story. CS223 here on the board does an excellant job at a very reasonable price. The Form 1 is pretty straight forward, feel free to IM me with any questions in regards to filling it out. |

+1 for CS223 aka Chuck Smyder at www.nflgun.com
He engraved mine and it looks excellent. The CLEO for Hillsborough County will be the Hillsborough County Sheriff, Sheriff David Gee, make an appointment to see him and explain what the appointment is for, I don't know his record for signing. Another thing to mention, I understand you live in HCO, what city PD has jurisdiction where you live? IE - Will Tampa PD show up if you call 911? Any other local PD? They have to have jurisdiction where you live, if so, you can get the Chief of Police for that department to sign (if HCO Sheriff won't). |
