I've got to know how long the build time is at Red Jacket..

I know they are the go to supplier for all the "real operators" so the build time for a commoner must be several years.

TD who ain't a real operator

Joking....Not on a bet.

Haven't you been watching the show?

They have at least one "real operator" come in during each episode and place an order for their department or group.

Do you recall the anti-pirate rocket launcher or the remote control, water cooled turret mount twin M16's???

Only a "real operator" would have a need for WMD's like those I describe.

TD who is a reality show junky!!!!

I think the show has been idiotic, but it's been spun as a monster garage type show fro the get-go.

I have seen half a dozen redjacket AKs and they were all well built.

My friend claims that they are to "go to" people for the s12...

It's a freakin TV show, I would guess 99.9999999999999% of all the drama is staged to get people to watch. I have seen several episodes and some I said were interesting and others I've seen before from other manufactures.

from what I can tell it looks like they specialize in AK's and Saiga's, so they probably know what they are doing there.

Yep.

First thing you learn in story writing for films, books, tv, and video games is that conflict moves entertainment. Without conflict/drama you can only entertain your niche viewers and your new initiates, but none in between.

each episode is always better than the next, my new favorite is the navy "special operation" guy who uses a trijicon knockoff on his m16

A real operator will do subtle things like that to throw off the enemy!!!!

You would have already known this if you were a real operator like the "Navy Spec Ops" guy

That is actually the internals of a real EOTech 552 stuffed into a counterfeit Trijicon shell.  It is all about Opsec as you know.

The "CIA knockoff" fatass in mirrored sunglasses was the best "operator" so far.

I was never in the military but i thought the idea of the dual water-cooled M16s was so absurd that it couldn't have possibly been real.  Seems like they should make a gun that shoots a .223 from a belt that is capable of handling sustained fire....oh wait, they do.

hey now aside from the sick water cooled dual m16 turret the CONTRACTor turret with the exposed buffer tube is rivaled by none

I wouldn't want those maroons to work on any of my firearms!  This show is destroying their reputation with anyone in the firearms community who was unfamiliar with them before the show.

I have no idea of the quality of their real life work, but IMHO the show makes them look lame.

I bought a red jacket ak pistol.   I sold it two years later at peak panic and scored an extra $100.  I feel very lucky to have gotten rid of it for a profit.  I think it is the only gun I sold for which I have no regrets.  I bought it online new, and the quality was just subpar in most ways.

i have honestly tried to watch the show several times and just shake my head. guys at work get all butthurt when they come running up and are asking if i saw last nights episode and i tell them "i didn't waste my time". i do understand it's for entertainment, but to me it's the American idol for airsoft commandos. at one time i was considering a saiga 12 and heard that RJ was the go to source for conversions, after seeing these ass clowns, there is no way i would do business with them. i really feel that they are hurting their business with knowledgable gun owners, the Mac10 knock off crowd will flock to them . as a show to waste time and watch a high maintenance bitch roll her eyes at every conversation, it's pure gold

Exactly. Same crowd that watches Operation Repo I'm guessing.

It's no more salted than anything else on TV. Hell, I saw a recent clip of Geraldo on Fox News hitting the deck in Libya because he was "caught in the crossfire". The funniest part is when the camera pans over to a couple of guys in tshirts just standing there, aparantly not realizing the grave danger they were in.

Sons of Guns is supposed to be entertainment, not confirm everything you already know about firearms. You arent going to find a show for uber elite firearm enthusiests on the Discovery Channel. It's VERY cheesy at times but I enjoy it.

Let's settle it with a nice blanket summary.

1.) It's entertaining.  Not so educational, not so breathtaking, not so informative and not so accurate....but entertaining.  Just like MTV.  MTV sucks, its programming is ridiculous....but watching Shakira shake her ass....that's entertaining.

2.) It's TV - don't believe everything you see.  It's a "reality" format...probably not scripted, but whose to say the producers aren't dropping little suggestions here and there.

3.) Chip Foose could give a shit less about my brother-in-laws 4runner we're rebuilding.  My point, guys like us could give a shit less about some swamp folks putting Mako handgurads on a Kel-Tec saying it's battle ready.  But, my raging idiot neighbor who appears to have been hit by a few cars in his lifetime thinks this 4runner is the coolest thing in the world.  So, non-gun nuts like this show...let them have their enjoyment.

4.) What the f**k do any of us know?  We all write this crap because it's the internet, and nobody can tell us not to.  And honestly, who in their right mind wouldn't want to have their jobs?  "Let's see, today I'm going to build some overpriced piece of shit, go shoot it and then blow some shit up.  And then I'll sell 10 units to the local swat team.  Oh, and my business is going through the roof with this national exposure".  Yea....
