A friendly hello from your neighbor to the east. Was just checking to see if the rabbit population in UT is up this year state wide? I know in western Colo. and eastern UT the bunny rabbits are thicker than I've seen in quit a few years. I work a lot in eastern UT and the Hwy's are covered with the dead. How about Jack Rabbits? Bunny's have a season and me and the Big Guy upstairs have an agreement that I won't kill it if I don't eat it except for varmints; Coyote, Prairie Dogs, Bob cats, and Jack Rabbits. To hot to go stomp around in the Sage brush so I was just wondering if you guys have noticed the Jack Rabbit population moving up with the Bunny's? Thanks, PTA |
| I personally have not seen too many here in the state of UT. However, last month I drove from Denver to SLC via Wyoming and I-80. I saw a shit ton in WY. I personally ran over two on the drive, saw about 15 squish spots where others had been run over in the past day or so, and about 20 live ones on the road, shoulder or just off the road in the short grass. This driving was all done at night, so I'm assuming there were more out at this time than would have been during the day time.... |

It looked like a Mormon Cricket hatch had taken place except it was rabbits that were smashed one on top of another. Thanks PTA |

We have a season on Jack's over here and I think Wyoming also does. That's what's nice about living next to your border and working over there, no season on Jack's or Coyotes. Back in the '80's we would go to the Moab Sheriff's department and pay $25 for a Grand county spot light permit. We were pretty hard on the Coyotes back then. PTA |

You probably already know this, but I've been seeing quite a few jacks and cottontails this summer in my area (Price and surrounding areas). I've even seen some in some remote places that I haven't seen any in for a long time. Guess it's one of those years. Talking with a good friend in Craig, Colo. and we both came to the conclusion that the rabbit cycle might have changed from 7 yrs to 10 yrs just by what we both have been seeing this year. PTA |

Seen more this year on the west side of Utah Lake than I have in the last 8-9 years. That's a pretty good drive for me to chase La'Rabbit. You boys have a good time with them this winter. If you have a stellar day post something so I can be jealous! Thanks PTA |
