If and it's a BIG if ...
We (Shawano Gun Club) would run a NFA Raffle would you be interested. Here's our Idea. 1.) Prize AOW.. Thinking Serbu.. 2.) Trust to be created if you needed via a pre arranged Lawyer / If not X dollars in cash to winner. 3.) Paid for tax stamp for NFA Item. And remember all NFA rules would apply so you wouldn't be able to pick up your prize for a 6-8 months... Were thinking 150 tickets @ $20.00 a piece to be drawn at the Roasted Nuts Four Shoot. Is this something you would be interested in, We are trying to gauge interest before we spend a lot of effort and have no interest. |

My/Our Idea was by including the trust for people it would be the extra edge they need to make the foray into NFA. That and the tax stamp. FWIW... not trying to be a pain-in-the-ass, just being honest, and as you're still in the planning stage... I'd much prefer a quality suppressor over a Serbu, as I'd have more use for it, but that's just me. Dealing with NFA forms through a trust or a CLEO sign-off, and paying a $200 tax, is not an "easy sell" to a wife who'd rather spend that money on new furniture or some other silly "woman stuff", so I'll never take that plunge... but if I won one in a raffle, she couldn't say no. |

to all those wanting a suppressor opposed to this shotgun i think the shot gun was chosen for this raffle because the tax stamp is only 5 bucks, and i think it also has a higher profit margin for the club. Jackpot..... suppressor adds $195 to "paying for the tax stamp" |

Jackpot..... suppressor adds $195 to "paying for the tax stamp" It was our intention if we ran this raffle to hopefully entice non NFA people to buy tickets and bring them to the dark NFA world.. Because the trust is included RFB as far as a Silencers, Would you want to win a crappy can .. It seems people are always searching for the lowest DB can they can get. Not that we would buy a off brand but say we went with a Lauer can in .30 would that make you happy or would you be sad you one and then want to sell it to buy the Gem Tech you really want? Because the winner could sell the nfa prize and buy what they wanted. Garage. We arn't ruling out a SBS ! Were willing to pay the $200.00 Stamp ! We just need to make sure we cover costs, Which by looking at the poll we can.. I think this thing will be a go. I'll let you guys know in a few weeks. Carry on the discussion in the thread.. |

Sorry, I was not aware of the price differance in tax stamps... I thought they were all the same. And I don't want to make waves, it's not my club. As for the prize being an inferior can or a better one, IMO a winner of any raffle has no right to complain about the quality of a raffle prize. If you don't like the prize, don't buy a ticket. If you like the prize a lot, you buy more tickets. It was just a suggestion, as I was wondering if a can would be a more popular prize... and suppressor or shotgun, regardless of what it is that gets your feet wet, they're both NFA. I'll buy a ticket either way... but I'd likely buy more than one for a suppressor, because personally, I'd want one more. |

As the SOT that will most likely be handling the acquisition or manufacture of said NFA firearm, it's a little early in the planning stages to make any definite statements. The gun club is not 100% certain of all their options, but I can say that for the costs that are being planned for the prize neither an AOW, SBS, or can are off the table. No it would not be a crappy can either, it wouldn't be best of the best, but it could very easily be name brand middle of the road. |

Ok
Folks it's a go!!! Looks to be like this for a Prize. 1.)Joe Biden Extra Special 2.) Trust to winner/ No cash for people with a trust already. So you probably could donate back to the RN Shoot if you were so inclined or donate it to a friend. Watch for details soon! |
