Tiger Valley gets a lot of calls from people wanting to shoot at our facility in a non-structured manner. 1000 yard range with pit service, 9 bays with more steel and props than you could dream of. One bay is set aside for vehicle assaults, and one has three life size tanks, a t-62 and two BMP's. We recently had a group from another forum at the facility. They seem like a responsible group, but I found other wise. They apparently got bored shooting at targets and decided to shoot the tank props with deer slugs. Now mind you that the T-62 tank stands almost eleven feet tall. I guess these booger eaters had a hard time hitting the real targets at 50 yards, so they decided to shoot the props that take days to build. They then went to the vehicle assault bay and shot the cars. To add insult to injury, when they were done, they took the 5 gallon paint can that we paint our steel with and put it on the roof and shot it full of holes. They shot other things but the list is to long to go through. Don't get me wrong, I know things get shot by accident, but all they shot were the props. ARCOM members have shot at our facility for years and will continue to. You guys have always treated the facility great. I can tell you that these guys will never step in this facility again. |

what the fuck...... that's deliberate destruction of private property. if it were me I'd be pressing charges or sueing someone...... that's absolutely 100% not right. I doubt there's any way they could talk their way out of that one even with the dumbest fucking jury on the planet. |

Been there, saw it with my own two eyes. Asshattery abounded for sure... That being said - we should seriously consider getting together once or twice a year at least in the same manner we did in October. Heck - I'd have alot of fun going there for just a day and we rent the range that day. It seems like we should be able to get enough of us together to pay the daily rental fee. Thanks for having us at your place in spite of the bad experiences you've had MADUCE!

Wasn't there a thread recently about damaging a prop and you had to pay for the damages? Replacement of supplies and time. What's your hourly rate? At least a few hundred an hour. Seems that should be part of the deal for any range days, especially malicious damage. Count me in if you every rent part of the range for a day. It's always worth the trip. |

Possibly the dumb an dumber squad of shooting sports, these guys were. They may have even been criminals other than vandals... I was a corrections officer for a while and I know the type. Not to tell you your business but for the good of all, you should have gotten the police involved. Criminal mischief, distruction of property AND with firearms ... the law would have probably came a' crashing down on them like a tidal wave. |
+1 Good idea as long as its the cooler months..Dec or Jan anyone ?? I get withdrawals after ther Hun Farm events.. |
T.J., although i heard the story when we were there the 1st. weekend of this month, i am glad you posted it for all to read. It looked like kids snuck onto the range to screw shit up.These people read the forum, i hope.![]() Thanks again for having us , i will be there at the next shoot, whenever it is.W.B. |
Does the offending party know they screwed the pooch? If so, have they offered to make restitution?
Yes!! I really like shooting there... With my schedule of late it's been tough though My December schedule eases up a bit, and after I graduate in the spring I'll have more spare time. If we do plan a 1-day shoot, I can usually attend that. Maduce, how much do we need to come up with to make it worth your while?
Certainly not to be destroyed.... Plus, shooting at an 11' target almost guarantees that your rounds are going over the berm. (Oops!) |
|
As Maduce can attest this kind of thing is not that uncommon you would be surprised at how often things like this happen at ranges across the country. Over the years I have arrived early at our range to set up for matches or classes and almost everytime I find something shot up that shouldn't have been. Or Steel designed for pistols, ruined by people shooting rifles or shotgun slugs at it. At any range you shoot at please only shoot at designated targets. |
What about a dollar-a-year "membership"...... only "members" are allowed to shoot. Part of the membership contract to be signed states "responsible for any and all damages resulting from my/our activities on the range," blah, blah, blah. Maybe [also?] akin to how hotels charge for things. They run your card the night before, but don't actually charge it until AFTER they've verified you didn't treat the room like a supergroup from the '70s. Sean, I'm quoting your post since I know you're an atty and could probably expound quite well on the efficacy/viability of this suggestion. |

Having the type of facility that Tiger Valley has become, is a difficult animal. We always leave props in bays that see limited use. Like the tank props. These are used in the three gun matchs and it would take forever to dissmantle them every match. I have always wanted a first class facility. When you go to Thunder Ranch, they don't take the place apart every week because of some bad apples. The reason most attend that facility is because of the props. Lets face it, instruction to instruction there are know super secrets in the firearms instruction world. If you notice, most public ranges don't have anything to shoot at. Your lucky if they even have target stands because idiots get bored and shoot them instead of the taget in the middly. Needless to say reactionary steel is about non-existant. Well I will get off my high horse and tell you that when you guys come to Tiger Valley we will continue to deliver the best range that I can possible supply. I know you guys well enough that I trust in the fact that if someone was getting stupid you would promptly put a foot in their ass for me. Once burned twice wize. See you guys soon |
AMEN to that, brother! |

TJ, when was this? Last time I was out there, your range looked great. The one thing I wasnt cool with was the fella shooting the surpressed Armalite .50BMG at the tanks, and then on the urban type range. What a pitiful thing to do at a great range such as yours. |
Hell, I thought that was so because the majority of folks I see at a range can't shoot for shit, even with a decent gun and decent optics. There's a range that I frequent that the 300 yd target stands usually have the sticks shot to shit because somebody can't put hits on 15" x 30" target. |
Foot 'nah that's what that nice solid laminated AK stock is for.. aka "da pumpkin knocker" You could always promote two or three booger eaters to "tank crew" and see if their buddies still wanna take pot shots. |
|
The more I read this, the more I think the range lawyer should send a 30 day demand letter with documentation of hte damage and complete estimates for the reapir of said damage and then follow that up with a lawsuit. Sorry to sound lawsuit happy, but this sounds like a substantial amount of damage qand I cannot beleive a jury or Judge would let people get away with that. |
| How many people have you met that were real “solid” guys until they placed a firearm in their hands? I’ve met a lot. Most of the time it’s just ignorance, but a lot of times it’s due to that person not being able to control himself. They have an unquenchable, burning desire to shoot holes in everything they see. I’m not saying this is bad feeling, because I think we’ve ALL felt this at one time or another. The difference is that responsible gunmen will not give into this feeling unless it is appropriate. The same reason that some people can not drink alcohol is the same reason that they should not touch a gun. |
+1. One of my old roommates was a "great" or "solid" guy........ until he got a few down him. Then he was the biggest fucking ass. Needless to say, I never volunteered to go drinking with him, much like I never volunteered to go hunting/shooting with him, either. |
I'm a 'solid' guy. Seriously, these guys are just not responsible when dealing with the other people's property. BTW, Are you home?...or still wandering somewhere out of the country? |
Yup. Same thing could be said about a man holding a bottle of HERRADURA!!!!!!! Speaking of which - weren't you the one hugging me at the HunFarm proclaiming your undying love? I may even have some pics.
|
Exactly. Let me tell you.... if I see a car on a gun range - unless I am specifically told otherwise - I will assume it is there to be shot to shit. Every time I saw that nice red car on the range, I had an unquenchable, burning desire to shoot holes in it!

There, fixed it fer ya.......... (yeah, I saw those pics Z was alluding to..... fer shame, Falarak, for shame
