Hello group. I live in downtown Minneapolis. Where is the closest range for sighting-in an AR? Anything out to 100 yards? Looking for suggestions. Also, do you know of any local dealers that stock NEW Rock River Arms AR15 guns? Thanks!

You can see what J&S in Lakeville has for RRA instock, but they are proud of their prices.  You are better off ordering a lower and upper seperate.  From places like ADCO or Legal Transfers bot can be found in the industry section of this forum.

Public ranges around the metro are limited.  I think Oakdale Gun Club ends its public hours for the year with deer season.  Dakota County only had sight in days prior to deer season.  Bills in Circle Pines goes to 50 yds indoors, and Burnsville Pistol Range goes 50 yds indoors.

The only for sure deal would be Del Tone in St. Cloud that is open year round to the public.

Yup, Oakdale is closed to public after the last day of the deer season. But yes, they do have a 100 yard range (and a 25 yard, 50 yard, 200 yard, etc.). You might consider just becoming a member, it's only $80 a year and you can shoot there 365 days a year.

The Richfield VFW post runs a range down in Elko, probably about an hour from downtown.  They have up to 200 yards.  You need some sort of military connection in your family though to get membership in the post, then access to the range.

When using a 100 yard zero, you can actually sight in your AR at 25 yards (IIRC).  So, any local indoor range would probably work for that.

Anyone care to back me up?

Quin, Sully, back40?

What I remember from the Corps is 36yard BZO same as 200yard.......least it got us good and close the first time and we dialed em in a bit from there.  8/3minus 2 on the rear and then whatever you need on the front to make it happen....

Do not buy from J&S as they are rude, snotty and overpriced.....but it's a great place to look.

Yeah, J&S kind of screwed me on night sights for my Springfield Ultra Compact also..but did buy a Remington 870 police turn in shotgun with mag extension for a fairly decent price....

I was at the Burnsville range a month ago, and didn't see a 50-yd range, just a 25-yd range.  They also told me only rimfire rifles were allowed, no centerfire rifles

Anyone know how to provide proof of military connections?  My grandfather was a WWII vet, and my uncle was a Vietnam vet.  Both have passed away within the past few years though.  What kind of info would I have to provide to them to have range access?

I have fired my AR at Burnsville on the new 50 yard range.  Well lit and clean.  The CF rifle restriction applies only to the 25 yrd range.

A friend used the Honorable Discharge papers from his grandfather to get membership.

Mark is almost right on.  The rifle range at Burnsville is 46 yards long.  Now how they came up with that i will never know.  But anyway I took my brand new RRA Elite CAR A4 there to site it in.   It was right on out of the box.   Anyway just wanted to pipe in as i am a new member and also new to AR's

If you look at the length of the property vs the length of the building it should be quite obvious...He simply didn't have another 4 yards!  I'm surprised he was able to fit in 46 yards.

The range in Elko is run by the American Legion.   post435gunclub.org
If you were not in the military you can join the Sons of the Legion to qualify. The membership options should be on the web site. You can also find links to e-mail for the membership officer.
