Is there a range in or very close to Little Rock where there isn't a membership fee, just pay for the day or by the hour, where I can shoot an AR. All I find were pistol ranges....

Arkansas game and fish range in Mayflower, 3 or 4 bucks unlimited time.  AR friendly, up to 200 yards no more than one round a second.

Take I-40 west to exit 135, go right, about 4 miles-5 miles turn left on Clinton road.  There should be signs for a bunch of Game and fish things.  Go about 3/4s of a mile and turn left at the sign for the game and fish range.  Don't take in loaded guns, if you take in loaded mags, hide them.

$2.00 + $1.00 if you rent a spotting scope. (Good quality gear) The range fee includes two paper targets. Target stands, tape, ear pro, sand bags, covered benches, and concrete walk ways. Pistol range, skeet range, and rifle range. Each has a seperate range fee.
Once you know how to get there, it takes about 20 minutes or so travel time from LR.
