Anyone know any details about any of the ranges near Chittenango? Dewitt, Bridgport, Manlius, Oneida....etc. Looking for a range that has a decently long range and must be EBR friendly (I would like 300yrds but Camillus is the only one I know of).

Thanks

not mentioned, but Pompey has a 300 yard range, ok with EBR's, even a few 50 cals, but you get your FUD here and there (Ok with Ar's, not so much with AK's).  Maybe 20 minutes away from you.  I was a member up until last year, when I joined Otisco (very EBR friendly) , but a hike for you!!!

No idea how they are there or how long the range is.

Stay away from Camillus; far, far away. That is unless you like getting asked why you need an "assault rifle" every time you shoot your M1A or ar15, you like not being able to use the rifle range when "the silhouette club" is shooting at the pistol range a couple hundred yards down the road or showing up to find the entire range shut down so that the Onondaga County "sniper team" (all 5 of them) can shoot. Im serious when I advise you to stay away from the place.

From everything that ive been told by friends or acquiantances who belong to each respective club Dewitt, Manlius and Onieda are all GTG.

Oneida has a 100yd range. Great group of guys. EBR friendly and lots of activities.

Pompey has a 300? I knew they had a very narrow 200 yd range. I know there are some EBR guys there.

I have never been to it, but Canastota has a 600 yard rifle range. I hear it is very nice. No idea on mindset there.

DeWitt got in hot water over noise from Trap. I have no idea what their EBR policy is.

F-M was a very nice range, but it is getting very built up around it. You can now see homes up on a hillside overlooking their 100 yard berms.

Camillus? Great range, but over-run by FUDS. Damned shame.

i thought Pompey had a 300 yrd...  It's off to the left of the main firing line, straight out was 150-200 ish, and they had a narrow 250+(but I might be mistaken).  I know a few that do high power shoots out there.  I was a member for a couple of years.... until I got harassed by an oxygen breathing old timer (60ish) muzzle flashing me and a friend.  He was complaining about a mini 14, a M44, and an SKS, saying that no one should own one.  Went about 4 times later that year, and guys had AR pistols, and the like.  I guess I just had a bad experience with one guy that ruins a range for some.

Also looking for info on Canastota.  I had no idea there was a 600yd range around.  Interested in it for bolt action, not EBR.

Stota has 50, 100, 200 and 600 (very narrow 2 benches way off to the side).
But it is Fudd all the way. Mostly set up for bench shooters, and their snobbery.
I was a member there for only one year b/c of the asswipes,
but there were a few very knowledgable and freindly guys there that could get you dime size groups.

Oneida is EBR freindly and usually empty during the week, 100 yd outdoor and 50ft indoor pistol range.
(if you want to check it out some time drop me a line)
Otisco is nice as well but no indoor range.
Good luck.

Do you know if Canastota has a trap range?  I know someone who shoots trap somewhere in Canastota.  If it's the same place I can ask him to take me over there.

Yes, but the good looking guys who get all the chicks shoot at Otisco

Very few clubs are truly pro-gun. Pretty crazy.

There's also Chittenango Rod & Gun Club on Gee Road, just north of the thruway, between Chittenango and Canastota. I haven't been a member there in a few years, but when I was, I found it to be a great bunch of people. Never had a single Fudd encounter in 5 years of membership, and I always had at least one EBR with me on each visit. It's only a 100 yard outdoor range, but there's hardly ever anyone there. I mean 9 times out of ten, you are completely alone. Decent clubhouse, good shelter. It's the home of a small cowboy action club, and they shoot silhouette, black powder and a couple other friendly competition leagues there, seasonally. I don't have a phone number, but their mailing address is P.O. Box 5, Chittenango, New York 13037. If you drop them a note, I'm sure they'd get membership info to you asap. Or, drop by and check it out. I think there are phone number(s) on the front door.
