The Rogers Shooting School conducted a private five day Intermediate/Advanced reactive handgun training course in Ellijay, Georgia May 6-11, 2012. The school is owned and operated by Bill Rogers, a former FBI Special Agent and champion shooter.
On the philosophy page of the school’s website, he states: “The main difference between our school and others is that we teach the students how to successfully engage small partial targets that are only exposed for .50 to .75 of a second. From the first drill of the first day, our targets are exposed for less than a second and they never get slower.” The ability to hit a target in those short periods of time is how he defines ‘reactive’ shooting. I went to Rogers last year. It is by far the best training I've ever had. I won't list any of the other schools I've attended, I don't want to
start a knockdown/dragout. If you have a chance to go; do it!! I took the handgun with close range carbine. I enjoyed the carbine part but if I had to do it over I would skip the carbine. The carbine training was good as well but it makes for long days. We shot around 2500 rds for the week with approx 50% being one handed, weak and strong side. I ended up with an Intermediate rating in both the pistol and carbine. |
