I was planning on riding my bike to the range with my AR broke down, unloaded in a backpack.
Sorry i have not been in NY that long and wondered if carrying in public like that was OK. I have searched gun laws but found nothing that seems to apply. Thanks for setting me straight, i do appreciate it. |

I have been in NY nearly three years, and not planning on leaving at the moment. I was even hoping to attend one of your build parties at some point if it was possible |

I use to be a member at Canandaigua a few years back until I moved down to where I currently live. |

Bike, car, horse and buggy, doesn't matter. Cased is cased, the mode of transport is not an issue. |

Quoted: There actually isn't any requirement to case a rifle when transporting it that I can think of. Course if you ride down the road with an AR on your back they'll make something up to arrest you for in most areas of New York.Quoted: I was planning on riding my bike to the range with my AR broke down, unloaded in a backpack. Thank You everyone for setting me straight, i didn't want to just assume it was OK and find out the hard way.
I grew up in England and never had a " Right to Bear Arm's", now that i do i really want to keep it I always knew there was a gun nut laying dormant inside, and now i just built this AR it appears to have come to life ![]()

At the very least you're going to be cuffed and stuffed during a felony stop after the 911 cell phone "man with a gun" calls start pouring in. I don't care what county you're in. OP: Make damn sure your broken down AR is completely concealed in your back back and don't make any unnecessary stops to/from the range and your residence. You also have no "Right to Bear Arm's" in New York. |

Then again I'm considered a dinosaur. |

Down here in the 6th borough of NYC they'd call the SWAT team and black helis with .50 cal door guns out. ![]() |
