Forgive the damn newbie, but... Is my Georgia permit valid in Texas? And does having a current permit make the process any quicker when applying for a Texas permit?

Whenever I travel I would also call the state police for the state I was going to as well. I think that the Texas Highway Patrol is the equalivalent.

First of all - welcome to Texas!

Second, I doubt that having a GA permit will make any difference in the time it takes to get your TX CHL. It'll take a while to get but the good news is that TX CHLs are honored in more states than most others are.
