I'm going to take a couple of Tactical Rifle/Carbine courses in 2013.
Do you guys have any recommendations for good in state courses before I look out of state? |

I have taken courses from Shanahan but not Carbine. He is a Grand Master uspsa shooter. Located near Rolla. Normally there is tons of shooting into or after dark. Weather does not seem to effect him or his having classes so be prepared for cold, hot, rain. He focuses on defensive shooting much more than competition.

Two of the best instructors out there:
Pat McNamara Carbine focused: http://aliastraining.com/patmcnamara2-daycarbinetaps-may16-172013-maryvilleil.aspx Mike Pannone handgun: http://aliastraining.com/mikepannone2-dayhandgun-march16-172013-houstonmo.aspx |
| We do have carbine courses, some built around the same type learning format we use for our pistol and shotgun training. I wish that weather didn't have an impact on me but I try to plan ahead and dress accordingly. One of the best comments we got from our training in 2012 was "the most cost effective, best training I have participated in". 2013 is a year of growth for us and we want to expand our training programs. Our current schedule is posted on the website and we are working with several folks to get the training moving around the country. www.advancedperformanceshooting.com |

A class for gaming or fighting?
They are not he same. For defensive stuff in MO, http://aptacademy.com/ heads up on them, its a my way or the highway kinda class, but he knows what he's doing, so if you go with a open mind you'll walk away better equiped. As stated above, DVC is also a good place to go, I took their carbine class last spring, http://www.dvctraining.com/ Or you could wait and see when larry vickers comes back to KC. He's been in the area a few times in the last few years. For gaming stuff I have no idea. |

I'm signed up for Tactica Response's Fighting Rifle in March and Larry Vickers CQB course in July. Looking forward to both, but need to start socking away more ammo! I have enough now for both classes, but they'll nearly deplete my stash. Be sure not to call James Yeager a coward. He might shoot you. |
