Even though Oct1 looms I decided it was still prudent to put in a Collectors application so I may transport my weapons without as much fear the Gestapo will come for me.
My question is how did those of you who already have the approval answer the "Describe nature of collecting activities" question. At first I though I would just answer it "I collect both long guns and hand guns for personal display and use." but then I thought that they might want me to justify my need for the status more than that. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Harl |

You'll be fine with that explanation. Highly doubt they will question anything beyond that. Get it notarized, send it in and it will be returned pretty quickly, considering. It's just a letter from the MSP noting that you are an authorized collector. Any recommendations for a 2A friendly notary in/around Montgomery County? |

What does this letter do for you? Allows you to buy as many guns as you want without waiting between purchases. Also allows you to transport guns for "show purposes". So it's okay I take them to a friends to show them. Doesn't have to be to a gun store/range etc. As for a notary, your bank will do it. It's none of their business what it's for. They just verify its you signing. |

Just wondering after it was sent out how long shoudl I expect to wait for a response? FYI I sent it out last week the day after this original post. If you have bought a regulated weapon in MD before: ~6 weeks If not: ~8 weeks Wouldn't be surprised if these times increase due to SB281. |

Ok one more dumb question. How should I expect to be notified once my application has been approved? When I did it seven years ago, I received a letter from the Section Supervisor of the Firearms Enforcement Division. Yep, you get a letter. You don't need the letter when purchasing multiple firearms MSP will verify your status. |
