Looking at starting reloading in the new year, problem is what to buy and from where.

Firstly the press, single stage or multi stage or progressive.

Which make, Lee RCBS, Dillon.

New or secondhand.

Then what powder, cases, bullets etc.

Never done any before so sorry for asking stupid questions.

Oh and by the way, don't want to spend a fortune, would rather start simple.

Which cartridge(s) are you wanting to reload?  What volume of shooting do you do?

Depending on quantity at the bottom end you have the Lee Anniversary kit at around £100 for all you need (except dies) to the high end Dillon at around £500 with one caliber....

What have members at you local club got?  Might be worth a nosey before you start thinking about buying a press?

I'm looking at loading 223 and 308, problem I have is that the other members of my club are the quiet type, don't really speak to anyone.

And as for volume, about 200 rounds of each per month absolute maximum.

Lee Anniversary is ok if you don't value your own time spent reloading....

My recommendation now for anyone starting out reloading would be a Dillon 550. (If you can find one second hand, then all the better!)

Mmmmm.......... I remember saying that when I first started reloading. Wait until the reloading bug hits you.

I've got and can recommend a dillon 550b. Excellent bit of kit, plus it comes with Dillons lifetime no B.S cover. You break it, they'll send you the bits for free (you only pay for the  shipping) I know, as I've tested this a few times. Dillon is the way to go imho.

Expect a letter in the post very soon, things are about to change.

The first press I ever got was a RCBS partner, how things change

Dillon 550B with all the bits you need should come in around £300 to £350 at todays exchange rate.  I can't recommend it highly enough.

Don't get a single stage press as you will out grow it in a matter of weeks if the frustration of having to set it up at least three times to make complete rounds doesn't drive you to distraction first.
