I'm going to be in Missouri (Columbia area) visiting family in the next week or so and and was wondering if the local gunshops have any primers, powder, bullets, lead shot in stock.  Things are still a little lean out here.

Thanks

Yes, but only for Missouri residents, and the purchases cannot leave the state.

I'm kidding.  I have no idea what the status in Mid Mo would be like.  Here in the KC area, things seem to be getting back to Pre-Crazy Season status though.

You can place an order online at MidwayUSA and pick it up while you're in the area.  You can drive about 20 miles to Mexico Mo and pick up supplies at Graf's.  For a retail store in Columbia, The Powder Horn probably has the biggest selection of reloadig supplies in stock.  Both MidwayUSA and Graf's have very nice websites.

MidwayUSA

Graf's

The Powder Horn's phone # is 573-875-4867, ask for Lee (the owner) or Carl.  If you're feeling adventurous, ask for Dave.

Columbia, MO is the home of Midwayusa. Just got to call in your order the day before and pick it up the next day. But they do no handle the powder or primers out of their factory / warehouse. So, there are a few gun shops in the area that will carry powder and primers. I do not remember the names, but sure you can find them in the yellow pages. I will say that Midway will have all kinds of bullets and if you need new brass and other odds and ends.

SIERRA!!!
Visit the Sierra factory and take the tour. Check out the factory seconds and buy many many pounds! Remember, Sierra seconds are better than most manufacturers firsts. Oh, Starline is just a minute or two walk away. They might even have a tour now days, who knows.

I stopped by on my way through in October.  They were out of nearly everything.  Apparently even the seconds are getting hit pretty hard.

When I went there a few years ago, they had kegs overflowing with nearly any caliber / weight / style you could want.

The tour is pretty interesting too.  Ear plugs would be a good idea in a couple parts of the factory, though.

Starline DOES have a tour. It's every bit as cool as Sierra's. Midway will also show you around the operation, and you get to see some of the animal mounts the family has taken on their various trips.

Bass Pro even had some primers and powder when I was there in November.  They didn't have anything there earlier this year.  Midway will probably have the biggest selection and best prices in the area.  I like a few of the guys at powderhorn, but after I saw some of their prices on stuff last summer, I still stop by there but hardly ever buy anything from them.  There was a thread in here last year about them buying out WalMarts ammo and marking it up for resale back at their store.

I've gone to Bass Pro twice in the past month.  They had primers both times.

One time they had a bunch of Winchester and I bought a few thousand.  The next time they had all Remington, I passed.

Graf and Sons is located in Mexico, Mo –– about 30 miles northeast of Columbia –– They have probably the best selection of reloading stuff around.

In Columbia, you might try THe Powerder Horn Gun Shop.

Bogg's Creek in Jeff City (30 miles south of Columbia) usually has a good selection of primers and powder. Their bullet selection is somewhat limited, for some reason. THey're usually pretty good for shotgun loading supplies, too.

I second MidwayUSA you can place an order and pick it up in like 4 hours.  I've ordered alot from them and used the customer pick up and never had a problem.  Powderhorn are good guys too, but may be alittle higer.

I'm resonating what others have said. Powder Horn Gun Shop has lead shot,  last week they were weak on pistol primers. Lots of rifle primers and strong on powder. At MidwayUSA they have most any bullet you want. Powder is not stored in their warehouse, it's shipped factory direct. Too close to interstate to have on site. Don't even think about asking for primers.... all you'll get is laughed at. Potterfield boasts a pallet of primers lasting less than 30 minutes once delivered. Graf & Sons is a MUST SEE...well worth the drive. Lots of bullets, ammunition, and powder. Buying primers on line from Graf's is difficult... back ordered out wazzoo.. Have pistol primers still back ordered from 2 months ago. They have done an excellent job of keeping primers in stock in the retail store. Your only allowed 1000 per customer per day. That's why they have stock. So take lots of people with you if you intend to stock up on primers. Ask to see the bullet room in warehouse.

Talked to the local guy(Bob Danz)half an hour ago and he was still unwilling to sell me a carton of large rifle primers. He's rationing them out a flat(100) at a time "until this crisis is over".  I told him, "Yeah, a crisis. Well, I HOPE this primer situation CHANGES sometime soon, or I'm going to have to get another hobby."  He just gave me a blank look in return.

Plenty of other places around getting primers in regularly. I'm not concerned about my stocks, but I am concerned about renewed hysteria should some odd piece of information or declaration hit the airwaves.

At this point I look at it like anything can happen.
