I had a fantastic interview this morning, and was offered a fantastic career opportunity. Went home and talked with the wife about it for 30 seconds, and called back to accept the position. I walked into my current job, found the HR lady and resigned. She actually had the gall to ask me if there was anything they could do to keep me!!!!! ![]() I wanted to tell her 'Yeah! There's about 100 things, but the company will never spring for them!' * Give everyone in the company a 20% raise immediately (there have been no raises for anyone to date) ![]() * Institute a 5% per year cost of living increase for all employees pending positive reviews ![]() * While we're at it, start DOING the reviews you promised us .... ![]() * Get rid of the Plant Manager and his little Toady the Foreman. You've got the Good 'ole boy network going on there, and they're both incompetent to boot. * Start following and enforcing the safety plans that are on the books, and quit sending people to the hospital injured. ![]() * You've got a plant full of intelligent people - start listening to them instead of cutting their legs out from them whenever they make suggestions. ![]() * Replace those awful "Low-Flow" toilets with ones that actually flush! I mean, what the HELL good is a "Low-Flow" toilet if the damn thing clogs every time you put 2 sheets of TP into it, and then you have to flush it 4 more times to get it to unclog?!!?!?! ![]() But I just told her 'No.' She wanted to aske me all kinds of questions about why I was leaving, but I told her it was personal and to leave it at that. It felt sooooo goood ![]() I start my new job next Monday (9/11), and I feel like I shouldn't have even given them THAT much notice |
I'm a Plant Biologist by training and trade, but the only job I could find when I moved out here was for a metallurgical company. I've had enough chemistry that I didn't have any problems helping run their lab to test their material for purity. It was lab work, but it wasn't Biology. The new job is making Biodiesel commercially, and I'll basically be in charge of running their operations, quality assurance, and heading up their R&D for improving the process and product. It draws on almost every aspect of my background, and I just can't wait to start! |
Good Luck! Your description reminded me of a thread here about 6-8months ago concerning such a plant in N. Nevada....remote location, public tours event weekend, etc. Wondering if that is your new employer; have a lingering interest in that situation.......
