| He gone! |
|
Damn...I think he did one heck of a job.
I also think the mix of Ryan and Daniels did well as far as personnel and direction are concerned. Without Ryan, Daniels is just fucked up, IMO. That didn't mean Ryan didn't make mistates, but at least Ryan was in major league and has had a lot of experience and has respect from players. |

Occam's Razor = The easiest answer is usually the correct answer.
Ryan left due to internal conflicts (JD), and he ended up in Houston, who just fired their manager. Rangers are in dire straights with their roster and perhaps Wash can't endure another rebuild without the core he once had surrounding him. Wash will end up in Houston over the off season if not sooner. |
|
I hate to see Wash go and recognize that he was a major part of everything the Rangers have accomplised in the last several years, even if some of his in-game decisions were questionable at best. But even if he is going to Houston, why not just finish out the last 22 games and then go. This decision is odd and certainly implies there is something else beyond baseball at play here.
JD even implied that he's known about the situation for a while now and had recommended a leave of absence as an option. |

I'm sorry to see him go. I hope his health isn't the issue.
Daniels got his way with the organization and it's not been good. I hope Wash does land in Houston. I know Ryan wanted him gone after his coke issue but they worked well together after that. Washington is my favorite Rangers manager after Johnny Oates. |

Speculation, for whatever thats worth, is that there was an argument over whether or not Darvish should pitch the last start or two this season. Daniels arguing for Darvish to sit out, and Wash arguing that he should pitch if he can. I can see both points. "A source close to the team" is who is saying this. Supposedly a yelling match broke out between the two.

I heard about this, but highly doubt it. |

Supposedly a yelling match broke out between the two. That doesn't make a lick of sense. The manager quitting over a fight with the GM on whether or not they should force their ace back from an injury to pitch in a doomed season? That's not it. The entire roster is on the DL and they are eliminated from any hope of a .500 season. Wash didn't quit over that. |
|
I never said it made sense. I was looking into the situation after it was announced and that is what came up initially. I agree it doesn't seem likely. Although, I would prefer it to what has recently surfaced. |
|
Quoted: The Rangers are looking pretty good since Wash left. 13 wins and 5 losses, assuming tonight's 5-0 lead holds up. ![]() Everyone in baseball is noticing. Wash is pretty welol respected, so no one is coming out and saying it, but the Tigers radio announcers have alluded to the change a few times.

| I am betting Wash's plate was pretty full most of this season, who knows how long he has been dealing with his "problem". And then there is the "problem" that was reported and hasn't yet manifested out his admission yet. Maybe there is nothing more to it than what he reported, but dang, there is sure a feeling like there is something else to this. |
|
I, along with many others, don't believe this reasoning, but meh... He cheated on his wife and suddenly decides to quit with less than a month left in the season? Nope. Smokescreen is thick on this one.
Pretty decent write-up about the back story with Nolan Ryan, Jon Daniels and Ron Washington. http://nolanwritin.com/2014/09/07/led-ron-washington-resign/ Basically it says what we all suspect, the rift with Daniels led to him resigning. If the cheating/sexual assault is true, who knows. No confirmations on ANY of it, not that it matters now. |

Interesting article. Let me say problem is in quotes, because I am not sure any of us know the real problem. This article may touch on part of the real problem. Next I have been a Wash fan and it was hard fought for him, because I wanted him fired after the drug thing. Regardless of that, I did always think he was gonna be a good manager and used to argue that point with the guys I work with, who thought he was a rediculous hire. What I am not is a JD manchild fan. He needs to go away, preferable under a rock. Goes without saying I am a Nolan fan. I wish and hope Nolan "robin ventura'd" JD manchild at some point. Go Houston I guess? That is hard, but it is impossible for me to overcome JD effect. For years I said the Yankees were evil because of GS. Well the same is in effect in Arlington. So sad cause I have been a fan since the beginning.
