Update to S308: My bill to amend/correct the South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) statute that prohibits CWP holders from carrying in any establishment that serves alcohol (eliminating most restaurants). So here's the deal for those of you interested. When the bill passed the Judiciary Committee, it came out with a favorable vote, but it also came out with whats called a minority report on it. A minority report is a tactic used to try and slow down and derail the bill. This was voted onto the bill by the statists (my term henceforth for liberty hating legislators).

So today, the liberty minded legislators tried something called a Special Order to shed the minority report and move the bill to the floor for a vote. The Special Order needs two thirds vote, and every democrat in teh Seante voted against it...so it failed. That in now way means the bill is dead, it simply would have moved it quicker to the floor without haveing to debate the inane minority report. Hopefully it will get brought up for discussion and then have the minority report removed. Once we can get this onto the floor we will be in good shape, the bill has very widespread support among Republicans in the Senate. The list of co sponsors has grown to 18 now.
