well im in Hartford and have a Walther G-22 rifle, and well... it sucks.  i've been active on Rimfirecentral.com trying to figure out what ammo works and now that i've cleaned it, i can't get anything to even feed into the chamber at all. the end of the barrel got destroyed after less than 400 rounds. looks like the extractor is hammering on the "relief" and the face of the bolt has battered the upper half of the face of the barrel.  to remove it from the upper "reciever" of sorts i had to take a dremmel to grind off the huge burr on the edge that wouldnt let it slide out. it was ugly... i buffed it real gentile like with a scotch brite puff on a toy rechargeable dremmel tool to smooth it out a little bit. would have done more with a dish sponge with the green pad on the back basicly. all in all it's clean now and the bolt trys to cram the bullet in crooked and distorts the end of the slug. it always did this with anything other than CCI Green Tab. now i tried to chamber a few rounds of that and it won't feed at all. i test fitted a bullet when the barrel was removed and they slid in with out any resistance at all.

has anyone walked up to S&W's office gun in hand for support in Springfield MA? there are horror stories with the P-22 crowd with all that plinkers problems with S&W keeping guns that have been modified (hammer faces polished to match the new designed hammer) so basicly would i be foolish to go knock on thier door at the corprate office, or should i just dump the gun on trade for something else b/c all i've heard are horror stories about this being a picky son-of-a-bitch for ammo. Green Tab is $12 a box for 100, i might as well buy the .308 i really want.

thanks
Zac

I know a few folks who have been to S&W who were told to wait while repairs were done. Never did it myself, but I have been there to check out the range. It's a nice place and easy to get to right off 291.

I have a P22 that loves Remington High Velocity Bulk Box from walmart. It does not like the Federal bulk box at all. I did have to send the P22 back to S&W for repairs right after I bought it. The safety would actuate during recoil. S&W sent me a UPS label and all I had to do was drop it off at UPS. All it cost me was gas for the trip to UPS. If your having issues I suggest you call S&W, their warrenty is top shelf and they should be able to help you.

Walther Tech Supt is located in ME, not MA AFAIK. Take a look in your manual.

Call the support number and talk with them. They might send you a pre-paid shipping label.

Not 100% but I doubt that S&W in Springfield will deal with your Walther.

Call and you'll learn the full story on support.

Good luck.

i'll call them and ask about MA. but i've tried 15 different rounds in it borrowing a hand full from someone at the range with little to no success. i'd manage to get 3-5 rounds out of a 10 round mag to actually get in the chamber and no be destroyed.

I'm glad that you got the answer and didn't waste a trip there.

S&W has been excellent to deal with on warranty issues.
