With all the talk about metal and ammo prices these days.
Any of you guys sell your brass for scrap?
I have a pretty good amount of once fired 223 brass that I may scrap.
I sold some of what I had and by the time I paid the shipping it was not worth the trouble.
What is the going rate in SE MI. these days?
Thanks for info.

Why scrap it?

Can't you get a better deal selling it locally?

I sell all my 8mm Mauser brass and I shoot thousands of it.
I was getting $1.15 a pound the begining of June.
Last batch I sold last week of June is was back down to $0.90 a pound. Still when I go in with 300lbs it is worth the trouble. Any scrap place will buy it.

Yes, but do they look at you funny when you walk in with 300lbs. of fired cases?

Nope...they now know I'm the "gun guy" after I took my first batch of 700lbs in back in December. I make it easy on them...my brass is all clean and sorted.

Tall Shadow and ZYA_LTR. Email or IM me what you are thinking.
This is what I have.
Left upper Clock wise.
Fed AE 223 and PSD 04 mixed.
PMC Korean no sealer.
PMC R.S.A. with red sealer.
Black Hills Blue box 223 LC (twice fired, once after purchase by me). This is in a 9mm Blazer 1000rd. box for size reference.
LC once fired.
I would guess there is 3k/4k, And after 12 to 16 hour days I am not counting them. I could weigh them on a bathroom scale but have no idea how many rds per pound there might be.

I totally understand the long day thing, i work 12 hour shifts, 5am-5pm, so after work, the last thing i would do is count casings, and i wouldn't waste a day off.  I sent a PM about the Federal mixed box, the LC box, and the black hills, which appears to be about half of your stash.  let me know what you were thinking, i would rather buy it than see the scrap places melt it down, as it will save me a buttload when i start reloading my rounds here shortly.

For the love of all that's (bullet)holy don't scrap them !  unless they are berdan primed of course.

1000 empties  are about 14 pounds. I had my kids count them. and then I weighed them.

She was  kind of hard to get ahold of for a while ,  but I send all mine to WWW.rvow.com for processing and priming . I think her prices are going up but I just got 4000 cases processed for $44 per thousand.

you don't have to do anything to them, her machinery sorts out the berdan and split cases and they come back shiney as a new dime !
