Need to head out the week of Aug 18th for business and I notice a lot of the nicer Hilton and Hyatts are sold out around the SeaTac/Renton area.

If they're not sold out, even a crappy hotel is going for over $200 a night. Is this typical in the area I assume?

Sea Tac, by the airport is always expensive.  The nicer hotels cater to the business travelers, who expense everything.  What area do you need to be in, and how high end of a hotel are you looking for?  As you get away from the primary business areas, rates tend to drop.

Still tourist season, also, but that demand should be dropping off around then. Have you checked hotels.com, or booking.com?
Maybe try looking a little south, like Des Moines, Kent, or Federal Way?

Around SeaTac/Renton area, close enough for my sales manager who lives out east to pick me up.

Define "east" and where you will be going to.  We can probably give you better suggestions once we know specific locations.

go to hotels.com and punch in tukwila. plenty of hotels less than 100 within 5 miles of the airport
