| Since I am getting my CCL from FL, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some additional training on self defense handgun course. I have asked around and I have not yet found anyone who is offering anything like this in St. Louis area. I can not wait to get my CCL, but I feel if I don't have any proper training how good could I be? I know it better to have something than nothing at all, but I don't want to F it up when it came to go time. |
| Just finished the John Ross class Sunday. It fulfills the Missouri requirement plus provides some fun and entertainment value, including some full auto. I fired his BAR - that was awesome. He also has a great selection of autos and revolvers to shoot. I fired a cylinder full from his S&W scandium alloy .44 magnum (weighed 26oz and yes, it hurt). BUT a comprehensive self defense course it was not. He did say that after the CCW training demand slacks off a bit he was going to have an advanced course. He did offer an advanced course before, but then CCW training took up his time. I would very much like to take that when he offers it again. He is an interesting teacher... even in the 4 hour classroom session, I was never bored. |

kar30, I highly recommend the www.aptacademy.com . They are very professional and offer a great deal of knowledge. I have personally trained under their staff, as well as I do teach a course there once in a while myself. If you truly want to learn more than just basic gun safety, then please check them out.
