Hi guys, long time listener, first time caller. I apologize if this has already been covered before (in fact I'm certain it has), but I had a few questions regarding the Shawano gun club. From what I've heard here and around compared to Shiocton Shawano sounds a bit more, shall we say, professional and classy. I've avoided Shiocton solely based on what I've heard here and on the internet, and I don't really want to deal with a laid back anything goes shooting area for quality and safety reasons.

Normally I'd just casually shoot up in Goodman, but that's a bit of a drive and living in Green Bay Shawano sounds like a very nice little place to shoot. I plan on going to the club on Sunday to break in my sexy new BCM, and my girlfriend (who hasn't shot before) would like to come along for a relaxing day at the range as well.

Never having been to an official range, my questions are pretty basic. Do they have targets/some way of posting up paper targets available or should I bring along some jury rigged cardboard targets? Is it a larger range (booth-wise) or is it generally cramped? Regarding a membership, on their site they mention that a daily membership is $10, with a $30 key deposit. If the two of us go would that mean 50 bucks or 80 bucks? I plan on shooting surplus 7.62x54r, federal ball 5.56, and plenty of .22; is that ammunition acceptable? I've heard others complain that some ranges are unusually strict on ammo (to the point of "no steel case" so the range can make a buck on salvage).

Again I apologize for what must be new guy questions, but after discovering a quality place near Green Bay I'd like to arrive prepared. I see there is a zombie shoot tonight, but I'd like a less populated and calmer time to introduce my lady friend to the hobby. However, next roasted/frozen nutz shoot I'll be sure to attend, looks like you guys throw quite the event. I appreciate the input gentlemen

Wow your first post is about my CLUB!! Sweet..

I'll shoot you a pm!

As far is it goes its 10 for the daily pass and 30 deposit.  Covers both of you! If I know when your going to be around tomorrow, I plan on being at the range all day tomorrow cleaning up well at least in the afternoon.and can meet you there.

Its my range is it classy and professional..IDK but I like it and enjoy it.. Bring a stapler or push pins or clothes  pins to hang your targets out at the 100 yard line.

Shoot anything but tannerite and a .50 BMG and your pretty much GTG..

Also wanted to add that if you get an annual family membership it's $45 and you and yours can use the range all year. Hell, most ranges it would be $45 for ONE time. Living in Green Bay I'd definitely buy a membership (I bought one and I live in Milwaukee, the drive is a little long but the ranges around here suck).

Just want to chime in after spending the day at Shawano today with the GF, had an awesome time. Everyone there was super helpful and great to talk to, and the GF had a really fun time learning the ropes. We'll definitely be back for more, I've got her hooked now . If anyone out there is looking for a nice little range with good people, this is the place to be. At 10 bucks a visit I feel like I'm robbing the poor guys. I'll have to look into a family membership in January. Once again, thanks gents .
