Hey guys, I need your help again, I am selling a handgun for the first time and wanted to know how do i go about shipping it, can I just ship it or do I have to take it to an FFL and they ship it.  I know it has to go to the buying party's FFL do I need to request anything ffrom the buyer before I ship it besides payment of course.  Any advice as to the best method to ship and prices as to how much it usally runs would be great also.

thanks

Couple of options.
1.  Ship it by common carrier.   UPS or FEDEX.   By thier rules it has to go next day air.   Will be expensive.
2.  Take it to a FFL and have him ship it.   He can send it via USPS.   You can NOT.   He will of course charge for this.   How much depends on the FFL.

I always ask for the buyers FFL's EZ-Check number and I only ship to that address.  Hope this helps.

Glocks has it right.  Check out this page for more info:

Also reference in the box (if you send it yourself) who it is for, auction # and your info.  I get guns in without this and it takes a while to figure out why it is here.

At least $50, no kidding.  Try to use UPS Next Day Air Saver if they'll let you.

You didn't say if your would be shipping out of state or not.  If out of state it must be transfered by a dealer in your state and shipped to a dealer in the state where the purchaser lives.

If you are just selling it to someone in state ,you can ship it UPS in an unmarked box to the person that bought it.

dont know who told you that but its not true. a person can ship a firearm, including a hand gun, but it has to be shipped to a FFL if out of state.

Correct, a non-licensee may ship a firearm to an out of state licensee.

use this link to calculate your cost to ship UPS,

be sure to click the residential tab, (not all FFL's are listed in the UPS system as a business)
then click the detailed time and cost tab at the bottom,
site seems complicated, but it's not once you have used it a time or 2,

ETA, you will probably have to drop it off at a hub, some UPS Stores will not take some items for shipment, and some will,,  seems to depend on the owner/manager

Firearms must be brought to a UPS hub, the UPS Stores are NOT supposed to accept firearms by their own rules.  If I have to use UPS to ship a firearm I give them directly to my UPS driver, saves me a trip to the Hub.

UPS Firearm shipping rules

I've found that with insurance it's a bit cheaper and much easier to ship long guns USPS Priority.  Handguns I ship USPS Priority using the Flat Rate Service. ( and yes I can, because I have the stinkin' license )
