I just sold a shotgun to someone in FL. I am sending it to his FFL, can I ship it UPS or USPS? Thanks, Andy

Ship it USPS. It's probably cheaper. I use USPS whenever I ship a long gun. I've never had a problem. Shipping for a shotgun should be about $25 or less, depending on insurance amount and if you decide to go Priority Mail/Delivery Confirmation, which is what I use. Good luck.

USPS doesn’t require you use registered mail, but suggests it. If it goes Registered, you can insure it for a higher amount, and when transported and stored, it is locked-up in a separate canister from the regular parcels. Also, you have to use paper tape to seal the shipping box so they can put the PO stamp up and down the tape to catch any tampering.

Oddly...My local Post Office will not ship ANY firearm unless the shipper is a FFL holder and you must bring a copy with you to prove it.

I use Fedex and its always cheaper than UPS and most likely USPS too.

Ever try to file a damage claim with UPS?  I have....thats why I will absolutely never use UPS again!

Many times this is because of an ill-informed clerk. I have a regular person I go to when I rarely ship a long gun thru the PO. He handles things ok.
