How well can you see it from St Aug Beach? Is it worth fighting the crowd to go further south? unless you get a spot real close to the base, it's probably not worth the drive.... This launch should be easily visable to many people. Take off in the dark and shortly after take off it will be in the sun light and be easy to see! ....leaving now, I'll post an update here (hopefully!) when I get setup at the press site. |

Thanks, hate crowds but love fireworks. Hope they light it. |

Could I get the hi-res versions of the first two you posted? Those are amazing. The link is 2 posts up. Grab it while you can, I'm taking it down tomorrow to save bandwidth. |

The low cloud cover @ Jupiter Inlet prevented the usual spectacular launch view.
The shuttle had already left the pad and was well over the Atlantic when I was packing up my gear for the trip home. A older fellow came up next to me with his little camera and asked "how much longer?" I told him, She's already gone. He just said "shit" and walked back to his car. There was another bunch of folksflock of snowbirds sitting in their beach chairs chit chatting when I passed them, I overheard one old bird say, I wonder when it's going to launch. I didn't have the heart to tell her they were about 10 minutes too late. |
