I have to drive to KSC tomorrow or Saturday (150miles each way... ugh!)...  If there is someone at the press site (which there usually is), I'll drive out there and take a pic of STS-131 sitting on the pad...

How well can you see it from St Aug Beach?  Is it worth fighting the crowd to go further south?

unless you get a spot real close to the base,  it's probably not worth the drive....

This launch should be easily visable to many people.  Take off in the dark and shortly after take off it will
be in the sun light and be easy to see!

....leaving now,  I'll post an update here (hopefully!) when I get setup at the press site.

I wonder if being 30 mintues west of where I was for the last one will matter? I'm not trying to wake up an hour before work and lose precious sleep for nothing

That was beautiful, wish I could have gotten a clear picture of it.  Did you see the colors of the smoke trail?

Saw about 5 seconds of the launch from the Jupiter inlet, until she went behind some low lying clouds.
I'll post the pic once I can download it from the camera.

I dont think thats the tail they're talking about....  it was more like a contrail later in the flight

I wasnt able to take any pics, but I set an old video camera up.

I'm packing up and heading off base now will check for pics/vids when i get home.

Yup, very cool.  The way the contrail lit up from the sun was awesome.  One of the better launches I've seen, especially from over here on the west coast of FL.  Too bad they're almost done launching shuttles .

The pics do not do it justice.  Here is another of the "blue haze"  I tried to get video and wife tried to get still shots but they just don't look like the launch.

Thanks for the high res

Thanks to the rest for the info.  I might have worked through it and found out a few hours after it was over.  A day late and a dollar short again.

The low cloud cover @ Jupiter Inlet prevented the usual spectacular launch view.
The shuttle had already left the pad and was well over the Atlantic when I was packing up my gear for the trip home.
A older fellow came up next to me with his little camera and asked "how much longer?"
I told him, She's already gone.  He just said "shit" and walked back to his car.
There was another bunch of folksflock of snowbirds sitting in their beach chairs chit chatting when I passed them, I overheard one old bird say, I wonder when it's going to launch.
I didn't have the heart to tell her they were about 10 minutes too late.
