Just wanted to ask something for those that use a single point sling.

Why choose it?

Are you right handed or left handed?

Do you wear it with the strap over your left shoulder and under your right arm? Or Over your right shoulder and under your left arm?  Is it a choice of comfort or functionality for you personally?

Thanks.

It is a personal preference.  Figure out what works best for you and go with that.

The main reason single-point sling fans often give for that choice is that it makes it easier to transition to your "support" side.

The downsides can be that the weapon can hit you in the knees and/or balls when you transition to your secondary weapon.

I've tried them and simply like the 3-point best for my uses/applications.

I have one, right handed here.

I probably wouldn't buy another one.  I bought it because I got a deal

to me it just kind of hangs down to low and isn't supported enough.

I wear one simply for 3gun.  I dont hump my rifle, I use it for fun and shooting sports.  I dont use a sling as a shooting aide, or anything like that, I use a sling simply to be able to have the rifle on me when I transition to my sidearm.  Thats why I run a single point, I can have it hang to where I can easilly get back to it when needed and use my off hand to keep it stable and steady when moving.  I dont simply drop my rifle when transitioning either, I keep my support hand on the handguard when going to my side arm, if I need my support hand when shooting my side arm I wait till the rifle is hanging before letting go and coming up to my sidearm.

Oh and I run it under my weak side arm so that way when it does hang it hangs more to the off side of my body than my strong side and away from my sidearm.

What I noticed is that if I drop the rifle while it's hung over my left shoulder I get hit all in the knees and balls and hips which seemed normal among folks, just something to deal with.

BUT when I slung it over my right shoulder and under my left arm the weight of the rifle carried it neatly under my left arm without hitting me and providing clear area for me to work with my arms..... I was quite excited with this discovery . Just wondering if anyone else thinks like I do....or if I'm just a big nerd who can't take a hit to the knees.

Also.....someone tried to turn me on to a technique with a two point sling where you wear it around your neck, not your back, so you get the same maneuverability as a single point sling. But I don't like the weight on my neck. My family has a genetic build of strong necks but still...that junk was uncomfortable.

this is like what caliber is better thread,  I have tried them and they work great if all you do is transition from right to left shoulder, but if you have to go to a pistol or move it is a knee knocker for sure, for that reason i switched to a BFG LAV sling,  I know alot of guys like the 3 point sling but they are to confusing for my simple mind.

I'm not asking what's better. I just like to know what you guys are doing for yourselves personally, and why you like what you like.

Single point slings are real ball busters..

BFG Vickers 2pt FTW

I like a 2 point sling. But one that is convertible to a single point can be useful in certain situations. I use a BFG Vickers that I modified to be convertible. It works well for me. I've tried the Magpul version and personally do not care for it. I mostly run it in 2 point mode but if I'm doing something requiring shoulder transitions, I will clip it into single point. Single points work fine when you maintain a firing grip on the weapon. As soon as that control is given up....its a freewilly nutbuster. Much more control and versatility to be had with a 2 point. And with todays adjustable 2 point models....shoulder transitions are very possible. Just slightly slower to maneuver.

Righty here, single point attachment at the rear of the receiver to the left shoulder.   Quicker for me, less straps to deal with.  Hangs away from sidearm with plate carrier on and with extra ammo in front on vest.  down side is when you detach it, you have to carry it.
