Why, unless you think something is wrong, good job. If you get a big refund, you have given the IRS an interest free loan.

I say well done.

I owed $3k beat that bitches.

While I agree that it is an interest free loan, in a crappy economy, and savings and CD's that are at ultimate lows does it really matter? Some people view it as a good thing and it is a way to take care of any thing you might want to do. (Yes, I am serious)
I am getting back my record amount for highest I have ever had, because of the new house.

I know many folks who over pay to get a big chunk back, they figure that if they had the money through the year, they'd spend it. I think my example is the f'ed up extreme of that.

I remember getting back a good chunk the year we had our fist kid, house, and the rebate/stimulus thinggy, was that '08?

Last year I paid $4.82. I had to write a check for less than a five dollars.

I got that beat - for 2008 I paid an additional (remember, it's in addition to what they already had) $3.00

This year, she's already talking multiple 1000's and she's looking for more deductions ... it was nice going from a single guy to married with 2 kids and a mortgage - at least *this* year as far as taxes are concerned.  Next year might be different since I will have my withholding adjusted to married from here on out.

You all need to find better accountants if you owe money. Ive cut it pretty close the last 2 years, $150-ish refunds both years. But I have yet to  OWE the IRS money at tax time. My situation changes this year due to the divorce, but I was claiming 9 or 10 all year long on withholding with 3 dependants etc.  2 deductions for ea. child if you made less then $85K last year IIRC.

Does it really matter?  Considering the stock market performance from March 2009 through the end of the year, yep, it matters a lot.

If you view getting a negative return on loaning an entity a large sum of money for 12 months, then feel free to send me $10,000.  I'll sign a contract guaranteeing that I will pay your $10,000 back 12 months from now.  I'll earn at least $500 on your $10,000 during that time, but since you view it as a good thing, I'm happy to help you out.

My last two posts in this thread, as they are way off topic.

NO!...you would be better off milking the system,..you would get free handouts of the money of those who actually work...

And God forbid you actually, donate to a church $25000 dollars one year (when IRS only allow ~$3000 a year or some BS like that.) and then instead of letting you carry it over to the next year...they just say F'U pay for it... F' them....

....RANT... I wont go into it.

It does not help if you have a bitch at the small business IRS unit.  Our CPA knows more about the IRS than all the stupid people in the Small business unit combined.  He used to be their boss.

-$3000.00

I have a student loan..which I have been paying on time, comes out of my account every month like clock work..Jan apparently they had a computer clitch...didnt take out the 125.00 payment I had set up.......so for one months late payment...which was their fault, they kept my $3000.00 tax return..........on the plus side..atleast its almost paid off now...by end of the year I should be debt free except for house.........
