[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Smith in Chapin, SC

Hey guys. Anyone ever done any business with Wessinger Custom Guns and Engraving, in Chapin, SC? It's only like 45 minutes from the house and I'm looking to get some work done on my 1911 around the new year. He is a member of the APG and listed in American Handgunner's "Club 100". Please share any experiences you may have had.

i've tried calling them a few times to price guns, but, no one ever answered the phone.

I thought he retired a few years and someone else was running the show there? Wessinger was an awesome smith according to some friends of mine (my grandfather was friends with him). I haven't been up there in a while though so can't really comment.

Some one in Chapin replied to my post over on 1911forum.com and said he had passed away a few months ago. So we may be out of luck.
