| Are we getting clobbered with snow this weekend? |
|
I picked up and old Toro snow blower with a blown motor last spring dirt cheap. Put a new larger motor in it, new tires, belts, bearings, ect...
I figured that guaranteed no snow for a couple years until the carb is plugged up. Weather models are all pretty consistent that we will get at least an inch of snow with some going well into double digits. |

Seriously doubt I'll get 4 feet of snow, but I'm going to hit the liquor store and go ahead and do the locker bypass on my jeep I've been putting off anyways. weather channel is saying 5-8 each day, which equates to at least 2 feet up here. European model, probably in centimeters not inches. So maybe 19 inches |
|
My snowblower is sitting in the garage in "summer mode" with the gas and oil drained. If I make time this week to put said gas and oil in it, we will get hype only. If I do not, I will be putting said gas and oil in it during a blizzard with 3 feet piling up.
Fortunately, I have the gas and oil, a package of extra shear pins, two boys who are eager to play in snow, multiple untested sledding/tubing devices, and my wife made a big grocery run yesterday. I could use a snow day or 5. -shooter |

If it's anything like the locker bypass on a Toyota TRD Tacoma, it'll take 5 minutes. Most of that will be spent finding the EXACT fuze to jump. |

My only concern is loss of power. Since the last Snowmageddon I picked up an industrial stand up freezer off of Craigslist and this year I managed to stock it with 100ish lbs of venison.
If we lose power for any length of time my plan is to put all my freezer meat into coolers or totes and stash them out back under the deck. And eat a tremendous amount of steaks and backstraps. |

Stuffing a few cases of bottled water in all the voids in the freezer will help with thermal mass and make the contents last longer. |

NM found it. Will be doing this sometime soon. |

Back in PA if you lost power during a winter storm you just stuck your frozen stuff out in the snow. |

Quoted: What are you going on about? Quoted: Quoted: If they keep downgrading my showstorm, I'm going to get pissed and write a stern letter to the weather brewery. I keep seeing Friday going from 8-12 down to 5-8. How are we going to get epic tales from that piddly showing? One of these times it'll stay at 5 inches or fewer. |

The last time we got a good snow here in Charlottesville, I spent the night driving around town in my Jeep, taking random drunks home. It was a hell of a lot of fun, and I hope to do the same this weekend :) That can be fun. I did that with a couple buddies back in - I think - 2003/2004 in CHO. My friend was in law school at UVA and one of his buddies had an old Land Cruiser. We drove around pushing sorority chicks' BMWs and Volvos out of snowdrifts. |

I honestly think some of them do it deliberately just to be rescued by some fratstar in a 4x4. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think the frat guys that are right on the edge of black-out drunk are more fun to give rides - especially I wear a snowsuit and am driving around with the top and doors off. I imagine they wake up the next morning with mild frostbite, no car, and a vague memory of riding through the snow in an open-topped Jeep being driven by a sasquatch. Then again I'm happily married, and turn down offers of "compensation" from the fairer sex. |

Snow-BQ 2016! I'll be over for backstraps once it hits a foot. Will bring the bourbon. |

Made the mistake of going to Wegmans for some last minute spices I needed for venison stew. It took 45 minutes just to get through the checkout line. ![]() I have to check the TP supply when I get home and may have to go out to Wegmans.
I also only have one bottle of red wine. And no scotch. |

I also only have one bottle of red wine. And no scotch. My wine rack is getting kind of empty, about 25 bottles, but have at least 3 or 4 bottles of scotch, at least that many bourbon and one bottle of rum. Have a case of TP from costco. Think I may throw a couple pork shoulders on the smoker. |
