I can't answer your question about a source but I will tell you there are few things better than properly cooked SS Crab!!!!
There is an above average Chinese restaurant in Dublin that fries up a wicked SS crab. I have never tried to cook them at home but I wouldn't be afraid to do so. Any good recipes to share..??? TD |

Damn, I didn't realize people around here even knew what the hell those are.
Growing up on the Chesapeake I love a good soft shell blue crab. First I clean the crab, make sure you get the gills, fold the shell back over and then dip the crab into an egg wash. Next dredge in flour that has Old Bay mixed in. I usually pan fry until brown but I'm sure deep frying would be just as good. |

That thing looks delicious. What's it like? I've never had one. You are part Asian and have not ever had soft shell crab? Shame on you. You need to go to Ming's BBQ on Buford Hwy in the old 99 Ranch Market Mall and order up some Soft Shelled Crab pan fried with salt/pepper. Right Now! |

Arlessinc said it above... Your Dekalb Farmers Market has them and they are fresh. On a completely different note....
Had some of the best crab ever last week in San Fran at this place. It may be west coast and it may be Chinatown, but they subscribe to the Southern ideology of deep frying everything. R and G Lounge Cool place that had a Bizarre Foods feel to it. My wife and sister-n-law hated it b/c they had a wall of fishtanks in the dining room with all the seafood they served. My brother and I killed it. If you ever in San Francisco and you like crab, stop by. |
| foreman2000, I understand you live in Henry County. In the past I've had Publix on 81 at Lake Dow handle a couple of special orders. Also, T and T Meats in McDonough handles seafood and believe he can provide special orders for you. Try Publix or give Chris at T and T a call. Worth noting, it wasn't soft shell crabs that I had Publix order, it was guavas, but I was told they can handle most any food item. |
