.......if you have elderly family friends or neighbors try and check on them everyday..................please.

Forgot to take the hurby curby out on trash day one time last summer. The next trash day was a holiday. Later that week, we got a knock on the door, from the police. The officer asked if we had any elderly people living nearby that hadn't been heard from recently. Turns out, someone walking by smelled "a dead body" and called the police. Yep, my hurby curby, sitting in the summer sun, after not being emptied for almost three weeks. He was very relieved, he said he hates those calls, and he didn't want to deal with that 10 minutes before he got off his shift. I wished him a boring rest-of-his-shift and we both laughed about the stinky trash when my wife punched me for forgetting to take out the trash.

I always hated those assignments. "Hey, I haven't heard from my grandma in a couple weeks, could you knock on her door." Same here. What irritated me about some of those calls were that they were made by people living in the city... come out and check on them your damn self if you are so concerned. Kind of impersonal if you ask me if you live in the same city and send a PO out to check on the well being. |
