Anyone know of any sources for M856 orange-tip tracer? I had about 200 rounds, but ended up shooting it over the last year or so. The only time I have seen the stuff (besides the Army) was at gunshows, but even then it seems to be a rarity. It's fairly pricey, but I did find a source for pulled bullets for 9.95/20. I don't reload (yet) so that isn't much help. |

I seem to recall seeing a lot of that stuff somewhere. If I could only remember where... Oh yeah, in my basement! ![]() Think I got mine from ammoman several years ago. Remember, the projectile on these is longer than it's 62-grain M855 counterpart. So make sure you use an appropriate barrel twist. (I know you know, just spreading the word for others.) Not a clue where to get this now though. Since I like you I might give you one round. Mark |
Yeah, I only do the 1/7 thing. Since you mentioned it, I guess I might have seen some on ammoman awhile back, but of course I wasn't in the market for it then ![]() Guess I'll turn on the radar at the next few gunshows and see if I can put some together. I know the older red-tipped stuff can be found all over the place, but I like the longer burnout on the M856. |
Appears to be M196 red-tip. Talon Man'f has turned out a ton of the remanufactured M196, probably what that is. |
