I was hoping to get some help from some of you locals. A lady friend and I are planning on going to FL for spring break for more of a vacation than spring break partying (my partying days have since dwindled and she isn't into the partying scene). Mainly just looking to have a good relaxing time.
Some ideas we had are Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, and Mexico Beach. Can anyone comment on how busy Destin gets during the first week of March? What about things to do in Santa Rosa and Mexico Beach? I am open to other ideas too (Gulf or Atlantic side). I prefer to stay within the top half of FL. Thanks! |

Destin will be busy as hell from starting next week until....Labor Day.
Santa Rosa Beach and Mexico Beach wil be a lot more laid back, as there's not much to do except play on the beach. If you go to Mexico Beach, St. Joe State Park is nearby and the Bay offers excellent fishing. If you want to be close to tourista-type stuff but stay someone more relaxed, Santa Rosa Beach is the way to go. Don't come to stay in Panama City. If you want to come over for a day or something you'll be fine but when the college kids hit us it'll be a madhouse. |

I appreciate the info on each of the locations. So I have ruled Destin out as a place to stay. I knew that PCB would be packed and had never considered staying there. Im leaning towards Mexico Beach at the moment. I was thinking about staying monday or tuesday and staying til friday and then heading over to Daytona to watch a Supercross race Saturday evening.
So while staying in Mexico Beach or Santa Rosa Beach, I figured we would chill the first day and hang out at the beach, then next day maybe head up to PCB to check things out, then the remaining two days, Im not sure. A friend suggested Shell Island, may check that out. |
