You are the most exciting thing to happen to the AZHTF in the short time I've been here.

Anyway, I got drawn for javelina 20B rifle.

1) They're not pigs and that isn't ham.

2) To bait them, spray WD-40 on a rock and come back at sunset.

5) I used to feed mine to the alligators.  I don't think there are alligators in AZ, so I don't know what the fuck anyone would do with them.  Hunting javelina is about as much fun as kicking a blind dog.

I used to quail hunt on a ranch in Texas that was over run with the damn things.  They would tear up the dogs so we would go on eradication missions.  50 beers for every 200 rounds of ammo was the correct load out in the UTV.  My computer with the "pile" picture and alligator video died a couple of years ago, unfortunately.

Tongue in cheek, I was busting your balls and Billy's.  I understand your HAM reference was not about the meat.

What do you do with it after you shoot it?  I've only found one good use for dead javelina...

I run around the house with the kid singing "Hakuna Matata"

They make good skulls sitting on a shelf...That is all.

They're great for red chile tamales, or plain chile verde. We like them pit cooked too. Leave the musk sack alone and don't get any on your hands or knife while dressing them and they taste fine.

Just to double check, you know what HAM hunt means, right?  It doesn't mean "YUM!  Ham!".  It means H.A.M.  Handgun, Archery, Muzzleloader.  In other words, no modern rifles or shotguns.

The dates for his hunt make it a general hunt too.

I'd love to get into hunting down here but with all the draw/lottery BS I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to it.  Can you get anything worth hunting over the counter in this state?

Just pickup a left over tag. That's what I've dine a few times because I am too lazy to put in most of the time.

Archery deer in most units is OTC
Fall archery turkey is OTC ,IIRC
Mt. Lion is OTC
Fall Bear is OTC
Coyotes and furbearers only require you to have a hunting license.
Quail only need a hunting license.
Squirrels only need a hunting license.
Dove need to by the $7 dove stamp and have a hunting license.

Left over tags are first come first served. left over deer tags are all generaly down south along the border. left over elk are very few and everybody and their brother wants them. there are usually quite a few left over jav tags but again the majority are in undesirable units. The easiest way is to start archery deer hunting but if you dont want to jump into archery grab a left over general javelina tag.

What units would I be able to pick up a deer tag in at this point (if it's not too late in the game)?  I could care less if they're close to the border.  Thanks!

All the rifle deer hunts are over except for a few of the super coveted late rifle hunts. You can buy a 2011 archery deer tag still only good till the 31st then you gotta get a 2012 one for next year.

Here is a link to the left over tags for turkey and javelina

I did think you meant "Ham, as in pork", regardless, we have a general hunt and will most likely be using rifles.  Now I've learned something, I wasn’t aware of the H.A.M. acronym.

I was sitting on a ridge watching 3 of them yesterday at about 120 yards. I had walking into these same ones earlier and I could have run up and kicked them. I think if you find them you'll be able to kill them easy with a 1911.
