I contacted Springfield Armory in the hopes of having some upgrades done to my one owner M1A. They told me that because I live in New York and because of our "state laws", Springfield Armory is no longer able to accept M1A's for repair or upgrades.  Their general counsel has instructed them that if they did accept these rifles, it would be illegal for them to return it to us. I told them that I believed their general counsel was mis- reading the law. They were not interested in hearing my interpretation of the law. Get this, they said I should try to change the NYS laws and not their counsels opinion.

So much for the Lifetime Warranty. They have written us off.

Well that sounds like a bullshit call by their legal counsel.  That is if a bonafide attorney actually was consulted.

Sounds like they're just trying to cover their own asses. Problem with the law is it leaves a lot of room for interpretation and not a lot of clear cut answers

Regardless, if all manufacturers took this position, we would never be able to have our firearms repaired.

Which would make the SAFE act supporters jump for joy  This is exactly what they want; the elimination of all guns.  If you cannot ban them all then make it impossible to get them fixed and they will eventually disappear.

I know I haven't yet said it this week: I HATE THIS STATE

Large gun companies(Glock, Remington, S&W, Colt et al) don't care about state 2A restrictions. If they were all about the principles of self defense and the right to bear arms as a barometer of whether they'd sell a city, a state, or a nation guns they wouldn't sell too many guns.
